Awarded for his performance in Dr. Romantic 2, Ahn Hyo Seop secures a slot in the 20th anniversary special edition of Cosmopolitan Korea this September.
The rising actor speaks beyond his years and delights on his anecdotes of meeting senior actors he look up to at this years’ Baeksang Arts Awards.
“Since I was a child, I really liked senior Hyun Bin, but he sat behind me. There were also senior Son Ye Jin and senior Nam Goong Min behind, and I wanted to say hello, but the distance of two meters feels tremendously far away,” Ahn Hyo Seop narrated.
Expressing affection to his senior actors, he added how everyone felt like a celebrity to him. It made him worried if it would be rude if he suddenly approached and spoke to them.
With his role in acclaimed series, Dr. Romantic 2, Ahn Hyo Seop also gained lessons from premiere actor Han Suk Kyu.
He shared how the advice “the better you do it, the more fun”, given by Han Suk Kyu left an impression on him. “My efforts can determine if I can do it well. So now, I am learning from a blank paper what should be the best acting approach for me.”
Recently, Ahn has been drawn to philosophy. He remarked how It was an opportunity to solve and interpret his own thinking process.
“I try to abandon my super-ego (under the premise of complying with the norms). There are many times when things I didn’t know appear. I think it’s fun trying to find my true self,” he said.
Aligning his current state of mind to his future endeavors, he vows to continuously self-reflect.
“It’s a pretty painful process to find out what kind of thinking my actions are due to. It is really difficult to objectively recognize your own thinking, but I think that when you do it, you can find true peace.”
