Kim Tae Ri talks about having many failures while working on Twenty Five Twenty One. She also states that Chapter 2 of her life has been opened.
Part 1 of the movie Alienoid directed by Dong Hoon Choi, depicts the story of a story unfolding as the door of time opens between sages who want to claim the new sword amid rumors of the Goryeo Dynasty’s demise and those who pursue an alien prisoner imprisoned in a human body.
Parts 1 and 2 were created in 2022, however, only Part 1 was shown to the audience.
Kim Tae Ri took on the role of Lee Ahn, a widow who carried a pistol and shoots thunder during the Goryeo Dynasty.
In a media interview, she divulged thoughts about her new project.
“I was happy. I said a lot, but it was like a dream,” recalling the time when director Choi Dong Hoon offered her to appear in the film.
She added how director Choi Dong Hoon reassures her that she does not need to worry about anything.
However, she said she felt sorry for the characters in the script.
“All of the characters in director Choi Dong-hoon’s films are witty and captivating, but at the moment I thought he wanted to be ‘very cool’. But Lee Ahn was so cool from start to finish. I want to stop doing that. So, there are parts of it that actually happened.”
IWhen asked what was the reason for feeling uncomfortable about cool? Kim Tae Ri said,
” I think I’ve acted while pretending before. In ‘Mr. Sunshine’, Ae-shin raised her voice that much, because she wanted to ‘pretend’. That was my limit in Space Sweepers as well. But now I think I’m cool.”
She also revealed the reason why she thought she was cool, and that is because of tvN’s Twenty Five Twenty One.
“I had so many failures while doing Twenty Five Twenty One. I was in a mental state to the point where I thought, ‘There will be no more failures’ while doing that work. The healing time was short and I was able to come back up quickly.”
She continued,
“In the process, I became a different me than I was before. I became Kim Tae Ri, who experienced many failures.”
Moreover, she added;
“I say that chapter 2 of my life has been opened. In the meantime, The Handmaiden and Mr. Sunshine It cannot be said that those are my career inflection point, but Twenty Five Twenty One is my turning point.”
In addition, she said,
“I have decided how to set my mind and what will be my basic viewpoint while meeting the world and meeting people in the future. Before that, I was shaken a lot. Others would think I was a well-rounded person, but I was a windless branch.”
Meanwhile, Alienoid will premiere on July 20.
