K-Travel: How To Visit The Zelkova Tree Featured In “Alchemy of Souls”
Previously, we featured Buyeo County, where Mt. Seongheungsan Love Tree in Garimseong Fortress is situated. Today, we visit Goseokjeong aka the place where Mu-deok and Jang Wook journey to a village for the latter’s banishment. Eventually, they head to the fictional village of Danhyanggok.

Episode 4 shows Mu-deok and Jang Wook on a boat journeying to Sari village. But they went to Naksu’s hometown, Danhyanggok, instead. The river featured is Hantangang river. Often it is called Goseokjeong, named after the nearby Goseokjeong Pavilion. It is a national geopark in Gangwon province.
Goseokjeong refers to the entire area around Goseokjeong Pavilion and the valley surrounding Goseok Rock. The latter is a granite rock that reaches 15 meters in height.
According to Visit Korea, the area is an important geology and topography learning site where it is visible to see the topography before the formation of the basalt lava field and the fact that the basalt lava flowed over the bedrock to form the lava field.
Make sure you are selca-ready when passing to the most scenic spot among the eight scenic views of Cheorwon Goseokjeong Pavilion. Blending well with nature, this fascinating vista is a sure hit for those who like rock formations and nature.
