Bossam: Steal The Fate Opening Week Story
Surviving a simple life with his son Chadol, Ba-woo (Jung Il Woo), the town’s go-to guy engages in hijacking widows for selling. In one of his dealings, he took a woman not knowing it would cause him trouble.
When he learned about the woman’s identity as Prince Gwanghae’s daughter, Princess Sookyung (Kwon Yuri), it was too late to return her to the Lee family, a rich household that taken their daughter-in-law.
After meeting the King who asked for his daughter to visit the palace, the Lee family’s patriarch was forced to commit a dangerous life since they can’t track the princess. He announced his daughter-in-law committed suicide.
Facing a predicament, Ba-woo almost sold Princess Sookyung. Thankfully, he changes his mind and plans to bring the princess to the palace.
However, on the day they set forth to Hanyang, the Lee family’s private army caught up with their plan. If not for Lee Dae-yop (Shin Hyun Soo), Soo-kyung’s brother-in-law, they would have been caught.
Bossam: Steal The Fate Opening Week Musings
Clear and with a direction, I didn’t have a hard time immersing myself in the first episodes of Bossam: Steal The Fate. The child actor portraying Jung Il Woo’s son is such a scene-stealer and their chemistry is endearing. I bet his on-screen chemistry with Kwon Yuri will also be the drawing point of the series.
Assimilating the signature elements of historical series, Bossam: Steal The Fate has made its storytelling gravitating through its pacing. Additionally, the political struggle, the hero’s underdog story, and evil ploys involving the members of the royal family are expected to decorate the series.
Period dramas in recent years have been reinventing traditional culture to come up with interesting plots. This MBN series takes on the concept of bossam or the practice of abducting a widow to propel its hooking point. Ultimately, there’s more to Princess Soo-kyung’s unexpected fate since we have met the scheming members of the Royal family and Lee household.
Unveiling Ba-woo’s rage towards the King and his estranged relationship with his family is another story to unfold. The preview for the next episode continues the swift pacing of the story. If this week’s episodes introduce more of the hero in the story, next week would present more about Princess Soo-kyung. Moreover, Lee Dae Yeop’s brave stand of defying his family would be another key point to look forward to.
Bossam: Steal The Fate airs on MBN every Saturday and Sunday.
