Extraordinary Attorney Woo Opening Week Highlights
Woo Young-woo (Park Eun Bin) is a genius lawyer who is at the same time autistic. She has an eidetic memory which comes in handy for her job.
Graduated top of the class from Seoul University, she joins Hanbada Law Firm and makes new connections with Lee Jun-ho (Kang Tae Oh) and Jung Myung-seok (Kang Ki Yong).
Despite her autism, Young-woo was able to develop meaningful personal relationships. Her father is with her every step of the way reminding her of how she can blend with other people.
When she joined Hanbada and was assigned to Myung-seok, he initially disagrees with how Young-woo can work with her autism given that her way of communication may not work well when she handles the case.
However, the CEO insists, so, she agrees to the deal that Young-woo’s first case determines whether she stays or not with Myung-seok.
Fortunately for Young-woo her brilliant mind can easily grasp the simple solutions often overlook. She was able to save the old woman who owned the place she used to stay with her father when she was young.
The old woman’s husband is hopelessly jealous and when his jealousy attacked on the day that he’s already having a bad headache, he fainted. Based on the police investigation of his previous altercation with his wife, the old woman was indicted for attempted murder.
Things get worse when her husband died. But through Young-woo’s keen memory, the plaintiff’s police testimony and affirmation from the doctor saved the old woman.
Officially part of Hanbada after successfully winning her first case, she then tackled a tricky lawsuit about a wedding dress that slipped from the bride.
The bride’s father demands compensation which Hanbada was able to deliver. But last-minute surprises have had the bride cancel the lawsuit per Young-woo’s tip.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo Opening Week Musings
Park Eun Bin is really impressing K-Drama fans with her superb grasp of characters thus far. This time, becoming Woo Young-woo the actress spared no effort in adorning such a peculiarly refreshing character.
If her new-found confidante who listens to her whale stories blossoms into romance, we’re definitely a happy camper.
What I like about this series so far is the simplicity of the cases presented. It does not harbor excess drama as well.
Notably, the situations are carefully chosen so a wide range of viewers can easily identify with them.
On top of that, Young-woo’s pure and honest thoughts provided ruminative moments like the meaning of love for the old woman who has to endure her husband’s ill-temper.
Also, the almost-bride who decided to claim a life that is entirely her own.
Along the way, Young-woo’s exploration of normal life with her strange own world builds the charm of the series.
Celebrate the colorful courtroom life of Young-woo in Extraordinary Attorney Woo on Netflix every Wednesday and Thursday on Netflix!
