King The Land Opening Week Story
Briefly making an encounter at King Grand Hotel, Gu Won (Lee Jun Ho) and Cheon Sarang (Im Yoon Ah) meet again in an awkward situation.
Gu Won, who is one of the heirs to the Gu family’s wealth returns to Korea after finishing training and education in the UK.
He is keen to work in the family’s hotel but he has to survive the pressure and taunt of his sister who currently manages the hotel.
Upon his return, his schedule is already packed, but his reliable secretary Sang-sik (Ahn Se Ha) is as efficient as he can be. They previously met in an internship program and Sang-sik’s kindness to him not knowing his real identity earned him a good impression. So, he joins Gu Won in his training.
Meanwhile, Sarang maintains a happy sisterhood with besties Pyung-hwa (Go Won Hee) and Da-eul (Kim Ga Eun). Despite lacking in her academic studies, her diligence and commitment to her work in the hotel earned the coveted “model employee” status. However, her relationship is not at all blossoming and her boyfriend disappoints her often.
Meeting again after Sarang mistook Gu Won for being a pervert, he finally clarifies and she apologizes for the mistake
Also, they are tangled with a project that he needs in preparation for his plans to take the rein of the hotel management.
King The Land Opening Week Musings
Rolling out the characters in a neat presentation, King The Land gave a convincing invite despite its familiar tune. We can see the sibling rivalry that Gu Won has to endure and Sarang who technically was favored by Won’s sister that’s why she got the job might be put in a difficult situation in the future.
The series also gave a sampler of the expected secondary romantic story between Pyung-hwa and Ro-woon which is as equally interesting as the lead pairing.
To be honest, there’s nothing much to rave about in the premiere episodes of King The Land. It was engrossing but it’s the kind of story that should really move quickly in terms of romantic development because it is really predictable.
Portrayal-wise, we can see the effort of the lead cast and supporting roles. But the characters should also be decorated uniquely by the actors to keep the preliminary interesting vibe it cast to the audience.
Frolic in romance and friendship stories every weekend in King The Land on JTBC! International fans can watch the series on Netflix.
