Secret Royal Inspector Joy Opening Week Story
Ra Yi-eon, who lives a normal life preparing delicious dumplings was reinstated by the royal command as the new Royal Inspector. He subsequently takes on the role of a trusted associate to figure out why the royal inspectors aren’t returning alive.
While traveling to the western part of Chungcheong province with the purpose of savoring the exquisite meal at their destination, Ra Yi-eon and his friends encountered a series of unexplained deaths instead.
Arriving at the tavern and discovering that it is closed, Ra Yi-eon sees a woman barging in, mistaking her for the owner. However, the woman who rushes in is Kim Jo-yi, who is looking for her friend Bori, meant to be a witness in her divorce petition, but is nowhere to be found.
Jo-yi inquires around about Bori’s whereabouts, but no one has seen her. Then she hears screaming near the stream, indicating that someone has discovered a woman’s body. There she discovers Bori’s floating body.
Despite his decision not to become engaged in the inquiry into Bori’s death, Ra Yi-eon maintained his anonymity and let the authorities handle the case. Shortly, he learns of another dead body discovered in the ocean with a royal inspector’s badge, which he views suspiciously.
Learning that the officials are burying and concealing the inexplicable deaths, Ra Yi-eon secretly investigates and gathers evidence to expose the deaths and the corrupt people.
To The Rescue Of The Divorce-Seeking Woman
Kim Jo-yi seeks help from the disguised Ra Yi-eon and his friends after Bori is supposed to testify as a witness but fails due to her sudden death. She requests that they compose an elegant letter in support of the petition.
When asked why she considers divorce, Jo-yi explains that, in addition to breaking free from her cruel mother-in-law, she also wishes to find true happiness.
Convincing Ra Yi-eon to assist her is cut short when Jo-yi’s mother-in-law bursts in and reprimands her for being with some men at such a late hour. Unfortunately, her mother-in-law doesn’t believe her that Ra Yi-eon’s associate, with who he switched places, will help her write the petition.
Correspondingly, Ra Yi-eon then enters to establish their authenticity, describing it to her mother-in-law in order for her to believe.
The following day, the continuation of Jo-yi’s divorce petition is nearly successful until Ra Yi-eon finally reveals his true identity as the newly appointed Royal Inspector and begins seizing corrupt people.
Afterwards, Jo-yi, who is opposed to imprisoning the authorities because her divorce has not yet been properly sealed, is astonished to see that Ra Yi-eon has her amended petition letter and has sealed it right immediately. Vesting her earnest wish, she receives a note that she has been divorced for real.
