True To Love Opening Week Story

Dating coach Deborah (Yoo In Na) is worth envying for having an amazing career as an influencer. She appears on a radio show and has three best-selling books to boot. Her love life is also steady for three years with ambitious business owner Noh Ji-hwan (Hwang Chan Sung).

When she learns that Ji-hwan bought a ring, she has already pictured romantic proposal scenarios. However, the day she expects it was no other than an obligatory date night they usually share.

Looking for a new publishing company, Deborah meets Lee Su-hyeok (Yoon Hyun Min) and Han Sang-jin (Joo Sang Wook. Prior to the meeting, the two had quite an encounter when Su-hyeok got the ring Deborah was eyeing.

He was intending to pop the question to Yu-ri, the writer in the radio program Deborah appears as a dating coach. In one of the problems raised in the show, Yu-ri reveals her own vaguely defined relationship with Su-hyeok for four years.

Deborah’s advice of bearing alternating heaven and hell in a relationship does not look good. The realization hits Yu-ri.

So, on her date with Su-hyeok, before he can take out the ring he bought, Yu-ri poured out how she felt alone in the relationship. She also ran down his bad attitude that she had to endure because she’s the side that loves more to an undefined relationship she does not know of.

Heartbroken Su-hyeok goes through the five stages of love grief overnight. Thankfully, he has Sang-jin beside him. Coming from a love problem, his conversation with Sang-jin about getting Deborah on board threw in mean words that the influencer heard.

Subtly furious for hearing unfriendly words from a man who doesn’t know her at all, she gets even more surprised remembering their first meeting. Out of rage, she accepts the contract and they all continue building rapport with some food and a karaoke session.

Inadvertently exchanging their mobile phones, Su-hyeok follows Deborah’s taxi. That is him indirectly confessing the ring he bought which she previously liked was not given at all. His blab about why girls can’t ask for it instead strikes an idea in Deborah.

She goes to her boyfriend’s house and sees him kissing another woman in his car.

True To Love Episodes 1 and 2 Takeaway Quotes

“Dating requires money, time, emotions and energy with a big chance of failure. It’s not cost-effective considering the risk.”

“Marriage is not the goal of a romantic relationship.”

“Being true and sincere is what a relationship needs and not a strategy.”

“There’s only one ending with a guy who won’t commit. It’ll be over without a word, not knowing when or why. Nothing more.”

True To Love Opening Week Musings

Engagingly fun and sweet, True To Love is a blend of romance K-Drama for those who prefer rational love stories.

If you are fragile with current love woes, the series can work as a counselor for you. The lines are great and seemingly conceived from a billion broken-hearted people interview. Just a rough estimate, to be honest. *wink

A wide range of viewers can also resonate with the featured love stories that would cover the young and searching; the pained but searching; and the betrayed but hopeful.

Yoo In Na’s impressive characterization as a dating coach is noteworthy. Her runs on the radio show, as she spews responses to love problems raised, are totally superb.

Interestingly, her painful discovery of her cheating boyfriend would be put to test if she can also apply the same pieces of advice to her.

Yu-ri and Su-hyeok’s story in the opening week was also a striking treat for its meaningful reiterations of actions that could lead to relationship fallout.

Su-hyeok who does not verbalize his feelings overlooked that communication is essential in a relationship. Unfortunately, his partner Yu-ri falls into the category of women who constantly needs reassurance that the feeling is mutual because she is the side of the relationship that loves more.

Deeming his actions equate to the mutual love promise he shares with Yu-ri, it was too late for Su-hyeok to even attempt to express that his feelings for her are genuine.

Situations like this hopefully appear each week in the series because the pragmatic lines can cut through anyone needing real talk about love.

Humor is also abundant in the opening week, and we can foresee it spread throughout owing to the equally delightful characters.
