Expectations are high for tvN’s new series focusing on the military court and the lives of military prosecutors!
Ahead of its premiere on February 28, the lead stars and director of Military Prosecutor Doberman attended the online drama presentation.
Director Jin Chang Gyu and actors Ahn Bo Hyun, Jo Bo Ah, Oh Yeon Soo, Kim Young-min, and Kim Woo Seok graced the event.
Military Prosecutor Doberman narrates the careers of two military prosecutors, one for money and the other for revenge. They meet and overcome the rotten evil in the army and grow into real military officers.
“Military Prosecutor Doberman” Discloses A Sneak Peek Into The Military Courtroom
With a story sketch appearing to be daunting, Director Jin Chang Gyu assures the team worked hard to present a special flavor of courtroom drama.
“Our drama is a courtroom drama. You might think that it will be heavy, but we are trying to make a story with a light mood as much as possible. We are trying to make a difference from other legal dramas.”
Having an interesting script to match the immersive portrayals of the actors is one of the drawing points of the series. Both Ahn Bo Hyun and Jo Bo Ah agree how the fresh idea of the military courtroom would enthuse the viewers.
Confessing he read the first 4 chapters of the script in one sitting, Ahn Bo Hyun raved about the invigorating feel of the story.
Likewise, Oh Yeon Soo elaborated how she was not aware of this side of the military world. She relays how the series would present how corruption and evil are dug in the military and the courts outside can’t meddle on it.
Director Cha points out expressing the dilemma that inescapably arises in military courts.
“The conflict comes from the fact that judges, prosecutors and lawyers are all intertwined by class will be interesting. However, Do Bae-man and Cha Woo-in will be able to solve the case by going beyond the class limits. Their perspectives will challenge the system.”
Character Transformations To Anticipate
Regarding the casting, Director Jin revealed details of how he gathered an excellent cast.
“I cast each and every one of them. In particular, from the moment I received the script, Oh Yeon Soo came into my mind so I suggested working together and I’m grateful that she was willing to do it. I remember that Ahn Bo Hyun insisted on doing it unconditionally because he resembled a Doberman a lot. Boa has a lovely and pretty image, so I was curious how to show her complete opposite side. Wooseok was selected as 1st place in the audition, and it is an honor to be with him.”
Donning a short haircut for the first time, Jo Bo Ah emphasized putting a new character different from her previous lovely characters.
“Rather than hairstyle, the role of Cha Woo-in seems to be an unconventional challenge. She is physically strong, and there are a lot of action scenes in this drama, so I practice a lot. I discuss frequently with the director and I’m having fun while filming.”
Returning to the small screen after eight years, Oh Yeon Soo assessed she did well enough for the villain role in the series.
“There are scenes that are difficult for me to do so I kept pondering and researching while filming. I’ve never played a villain before, so I needed to study, and the character of a female division commander is a character I’ve never even heard of before. I looked up videos and materials to get the feel of the character.”
Drawing Points of Military Prosecutor Doberman
Lastly, the actors picked the point of observation of the series. Kim Woo Seok compares it to the refreshing feel of a carbonated drink.
Kim Young Min highlighted the combination of military prosecutors with different motivations digging and overcoming traps set by vicious villains is an engrossing part of the story.
Jo Bo Ah stresses the unique subject of the military court. She describes it as a different kind of fun.
