Han River Police team has completed preparations and is gearing up for dispatch on September 13.
Disney+ new original series, Han River Police held its production presentation on the morning of September 12.
Director Kim Sang-cheol and actors Kwon Sang Woo, Kim Hee Won, Lee Sang Yi, Bae Da Bin, and Shin Hyun Seung attended the event and shared filming stories.
Set along one of Seoul’s most beloved destinations, Han River Police combines action, humor and criminal intrigue to deliver a hilarious new take on crime dramas.
When a hardworking and hot-tempered police officer gets partnered with a lackadaisical lay-about, the mismatched duo will be thrown into the deep end when a criminal conspiracy unfolds in front of them in Han River Police – a new Korean action-comedy series coming September 13 exclusively to Disney+.
Tasked with keeping Seoul’s most iconic leisure destination safe, Sergeant Dujin and Lieutenant Chunseok regularly patrol the banks of the Han River, taking on terrorists, saving citizens involved in accidents, and solving a range of crimes.
An unlikely duo that finds themselves in a number of bizarre situations, the team will find themselves in over their heads when a widespread criminal conspiracy is uncovered within their jurisdiction.
Interesting Premise About Han River Police Force
This work received attention for its fresh subject matter and story of the Han River Police Unit, which handles all incidents that occur in the Han River.
Until now, the profession of the police and the investigation of various crimes have been major subjects and items that have been constantly covered in movies and dramas, but there has been no work dealing with the Han River Police Force. Thus, Han River Police is significant as a work that shows the world of the Han River Police Force in earnest.
Director Kim Sang-cheol, who was in charge of directing shared how he conceived the drama.
“There was a frustrating time because the work I was preparing was canceled. At that time, I walked along the Han River every day. I was walking that day as usual, but there was a jumping accident and people in blue uniforms came to the rescue. At that time, it was my first time learning about the profession called the Han River Police Force. I felt like my wandering was also rescued. I thought it would be refreshing to show a new profession that has not been covered well in the space we all know, the Han River. That’s why I prepared this work.“
Echoing the same cluelessness about the police team specifically working at Han River, Kwon Sang Woo voiced our admiration for the team.
“Actually, I didn’t know much either. But since I was filmed wearing the same clothes as the actual Han River Police Force members, they were more visible to my eyes. I felt that it would be difficult to protect the huge Han River. Their job is amazing.”
Previously, Kwon Sang Woo appeared on a radio program and made people laugh by telling people to dote on him after Jo In Sung. Regarding this, the actor adorably quipped, “Jo In Sung has the ability to fly in Moving, but I have the ability to dive. I’m glad that Moving did very well. I’m praying for it to do even better.”
Exciting Police Duo To Root For
Completing the other half of the duo in the series, Kim Hee Won shared his thoughts about appearing in Han River Police following Moving.
“I’m so happy that you love Moving so much. I sincerely prayed for it to do well. I had an earnest wish and I’m really happy that it did well. I’ll greet you with Han River Police soon. I’m really desperate for Han River as well,” he said, making everyone laugh.
The actors revealed the reason why they chose the series. First, Kwon Sang Woo affirmed the novel concept and his confidence.
“Crime stories have been used as a theme in various movies and dramas, but the fact that it takes place against the background of the Han River was refreshing and new. The two letters Han River are hard to forget and show the other side of the Han River that we often see. I chose it because I thought I could show it well.”
Kim Hee Won responded that he liked the script as well.
Meanwhile, Lee Sang Yi said, “The Han River Police was attractive, but I found the villain attractive, so I participated. I had seen the story of this police force in a documentary, so I was familiar with it. Isn’t it creepy when a crime occurs in a familiar place like the Han River? I decided to appear because I enjoyed the familiar part of the Han River.”
Lastly, Director Kim remarks how Han River is another main character in the story. He also asks viewers for support.
Han River Police will be released for the first time on Disney+ on September 13.
