Powering glowing performances, SEVENTEEN made its anticipated return to Manila after two years for Be the Sun in Manila!
With their undeniable popularity growing stronger each year, they effortlessly sold out a two-day concert on October 8 and October 9 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Returning for their fifth time in the Philippines—members Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, THE8, Vernon, Seungkwan, Dino, and their leader, S.Coups, delivered a three-hour-long setlist for their last concert day on October 9.
As soon as the opening stage begins, the enormous energy of the crowd overwhelmed the venue. Reunited at last after two years, PH Carats unitedly cheered and sang along with SEVENTEEN with their explosive performance of “HOT”. Thereafter, the group follows up with mind-blowing stages of “March” and “HIT”.
Taking turns, SEVENTEEN proceeded with their first ment, praising the signature unique energy of PH Carats.
Hoshi ran all around the stage to sing and puts his right hand up into a paw for his iconic ‘horanghae’, a pun he started out of his love for tigers. The whole crowd answered him in return, with their paw up as well. After the members talked to the lively PH crowd, they detonated another powerful performance with “Rock with You”.
Then, the whole arena was in an uproar when the screens showed Mingyu and Wonwoo side by side before the stage panels close down on them. Vernon and Joshua pop out of the extended stage to deliver an exhilarating performance to “2 minus 1”.
Electrifying Unit Performances
Correspondingly, the second part of the show is dedicated to each unit’s performance. The Performance unit goes first, composed of the members’ Jun, Hoshi, THE8, and Dino. They delivered a sultry remix of the song “Moonwalker” and “Wave” from their album Your Choice.
Next, the Vocal unit slows the pace down and put forward a mellow remix of the song “Come to Me”. Jeonghan, Joshua, Woozi, DK, and, Seungkwan made CARATs feel emotional when the unit sang “Imperfect Love”.
Capping off the unit performance, Team Hip-hop hyped-up pulses with the song “GAM3 BO1”. The members of the unit S.Coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu and Vernon, keeps everyone’s energy at an all-time high when they followed their performance with “Back it Up”.
SEVENTEEN Signature Stages
Subsequently, the next part of the concert starts with their entertaining skit where Vernon enters while performing “Attention” by New Jeans.
Proving that they really are the theatre kids of K-Pop, SEVENTEEN brandished a playful performance to “Mansae”, “Left and Right”, and “Very Nice (Aju Nice)”. Raising even more the existing cloud nine, they vaunted charismatic stages of “Shadow”, “Crush”, and their recent comeback song from their album Sector 17, “_WORLD”.

SEVENTEEN teases the PH Carats saying it’s their last song for the night but it’s because their encore is about to start. While the members are backstage, the camera zooms into hilarious fan signs brought by the fans which made the whole arena echo with laughter.
Once the boys are back for their encore, they sang some fan favorites like “Darl+ing”, “Heaven’s Cloud”, and “Our Dawn is Hotter than Day”. As the show approaches its end, SEVENTEEN’s energy is nowhere near slowing down. CARATS prepare to Snapshoot and Aju Nice the night away.
A lucky carat, now known as Pizza Carat on Twitter, was chosen to dance to Snapshoot which made the members happy after her adorable dancing. The concert ends with an endless loop to Aju Nice, where another fan from the crowd was chosen to sing one of the high notes from the iconic song.
It’s always a fact that every K-Pop artist that performs in front of the PH crowd is amazed at how the crowd sings to all the lyrics—never leaving a dull moment for the artist. The same can be said with Be the Sun in Manila.
Each member even shared how happy they are after performing for PH Carats, even promising that they will be back again for more. I guess, for now, all Filo Carats can do is reminisce and wait for SEVENTEEN to return like they always do.
