Kim Bum is gracing the pages of Elle Korea for its December issue!
Portraying half-blood gumiho Lee Rang in Tale of the Nine Tailed, the actor has continuously charmed drama fans. His perfect volatile and stubborn character who keeps hating yet craving love from his brother Lee Yeon, portrayed by Lee Dong Wook, has been so far impressive.
For the pictorial themed “Here I Am”, the actor channeled his deep aura and presence displaying his lethal manly charm. Interestingly, it is in the same demeanor of his current well-loved character.
Kim Bum wore leather pants, shirts, and coat, as well as velvet hoodies and pants. His minimalist outfit was adorned with white flower corsage and white shoes. Fully immersed in the photo shoot, the actor has gained admiration from the fashion magazine crew.
In the subsequent interview, Kim Bum talks about the idea that came up in the process of embodying Lee Rang as a character. “When I worked on Rang, I thought of Thanatos, (the greek god of destruction who detests humans and gods). Because Lee Rang was abandoned by love, he was a person who had a deep desire to destroy everything.”
With his character gaining praises albeit making everything hard for the hero of the story, Kim Bum has achieved his goal as an actor.
“I wanted to be a villain that cannot be hated. An ambiguous villain you can hardly call a villain.” From the action scenes and dynamic role of Lee Rang, he jokingly quip missing melodrama.
“But I think I was more free because there was no melodrama line. I was able to act by spreading my emotions without being bound by a single relationship,” Kim further explained.
Looking back on his career, which has been in its 15th year since his debut, he confessed experiencing troubles. “For a while, I thought that this job was not right for me, and I fell into a dilemma.”
After sitting down for a long time, he realized he was robbed of opportunities for dwelling on unnecessary thoughts. Thankfully, he mustered strength to get up.
