In July 2019, Lee Min Ho was appointed as the public relations ambassador of the foundation.
With that, the popular actor works with King Sejong Institute Foundation in the production of Korean language and culture learning contents.
Established in 2007 by the South Korean government, King Sejong Institute aims to cater in the growing interest of foreigners to learn the Korean language.
With that, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has been designating and operating overseas learning centers.
As of June 2019, the number of locations has expanded to 180 locations in 60 countries with 60,000 students. From its humble beginning of 13 locations in three countries in 2007, it is considered an impressive feat. Further proving the global prevalence of Korean language and culture.
The unveiled video features the actor presenting the beauty of Korean language. Introducing the uniqueness and charm of Hangeul, he displays Korean calligraphy, Korean alphabet patterned fashion accessory and Hangeul word shaped furniture.
Lee Min Ho’s Admirable Advocacies
According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Lee Min Ho was appointed owing to his outstanding reputation in South Korea and overseas. “In order to keep up with the rising heat of the Korean Wave, through Lee Min Ho, we expect more people to know King Sejong Institute,” the ministry added.
Lee Min Ho said, “K-contents are receiving global attention and I am also loved by many overseas fans. So I participated because it was a good opportunity to promote the beauty of Hangeul.”
As a renowned Korean actor, he has appeared in various screen projects securing a strong fan base both domestically and abroad.
Lee’s breakout performance as an actor was in Boys Over Flowers, a youth drama loved immensely by worldwide fans. His succeeding projects such as City Hunter, The Legend of the Blue Sea and The King: Eternal Monarch were also met with the same impressive raves.
Known for his exemplary advocacies, the actor adds another notable project to his name. He actively works on donation platform PROMIZ in spearheading projects dedicated to underprivileged children.
Aside from that he has made generous donations to various causes such as protecting abused children and COVID-19 relief operation to name a few.
