Bannered by Jung So Min, Lee Jae Wook and Hwang Min Hyun, Alchemy of Souls spins a captivating fantasy romance narrative.
Notably, the creative team behind the series features Hong sisters (Hotel Del Luna) and director Park Jun-hwa of What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim and Touch Your Heart fame.
Alchemy of Souls narrates the stories of people whose destinies are magically altered, thereby switching their souls. This change modifies their souls, allowing them to grow in the background of a fictional country that does not exist in history or on maps.
Lee Jae Wook plays Jang-wook, a noble yet short-tempered master of the fictional country in the story. He has a tragic past with a shocking birth secret that is well-known across the country. While resolving his life’s dissatisfaction with his bones, he meets Mu Deok-yi.
In the still cuts released by the production team, Jang-wook shows a noble and elegant appearance. With his tidy hair, upright posture and serious expression, he befits the “master” title of a prominent family.
However, due to a physical defect that he had at the time of his birth, Jang-wook, the ill-fated master who cannot perform magic tricks, is a person with a twisted side, contrary to his appearance.
The production team shared:
“Lee Jae Wook is a noble master on the outside, but on the inside, he is perfectly digesting the character of Jang-wook, who has a fiery and evil temperament.”
Meanwhile, Jung So Min portrays Mu Deok-yi, an amazing assassin stuck in the body of a weakling. Deok-yi has a charismatic presence, however, her body can’t attune to her vigor.
She then became Jang-wook’s servant and secret teacher who led a strict training to the master.
Revealing Deok-yi’s sharp temperament, Jung So-min raises curiosity about how she embodies her latest character’s story. She looks nervous as she walks down the street with an eye patch on her eye. Another photo displays she’s not to be messed up with.
Shedding light on Jung’s enigmatic character, the production team said:
“From the appearance of a simple woman from the countryside, to the appearance of an ordinary servant while hiding the charismatic soul, through this character with a wide range, a completely new face will charm the viewers.”
Lastly, Hwang Min Hyun characterizes Seo-yul as a genius nobleman from the Seo clan. He harbors a secret love story for a girl who is overly perfect.
Accordingly, in the teasers for his character, Hwang transforms into nobleman Seo-yul. His mysterious aura, handsome face, and sophisticated demeanor pique interest as to what kind of story he will give in the series.
Appearing to be reading a book in the library, he looks serious and dignified. But even a nobleman like him has a “first love” to tell. Thus, viewers can anticipate Seo-yul’s first love story.
The production team of Alchemy of Souls promises an endearing character for the actor.
“Hwang Min-hyun is going to make viewers’ hearts flutter with his rendition of a pure man who cannot forget his first love. Please wait and see if they will win the hearts of viewers.”
