Seo Ji Hoon shows off his flower boy beauty in the BTS worldview drama Begins≠Youth.
The drama Begins≠Youth, co-produced by Chorokbaem Media and Hybe in collaboration with Finger Labs, is a re-imagined series based on the ongoing fictional narrative BTS has been presenting through their albums and music videos since 2015.
The storyline follows the school days and growth of seven boys, separate from the actual lives of the BTS members.
In the play, Seo Ji Hoon portrays Kim Hwan, the eldest brother inspired by Jin and the main character who propels the story forward.
Kim Hwan, a dutiful and obedient son, has been living according to his father’s plans. Seo Ji-hoon is receiving praise for his nuanced portrayal of Kim Hwan’s emotions as he transfers to Korea and meets six other boys. Notably, after the release of the ‘Begins Youth’ content, Seo Ji-hoon’s personal SNS following increased by 30,000.
In the released still photos, Seo Ji-hoon exudes warmth, dressed in a black suit and gazing at the sky with a wistful expression. In another image, he is seen in a school uniform, nervously looking off into the distance, sparking curiosity.
Director Kim Jae-hong, known for Cruel Palace: War of the Flowers, and writer Kim Su-jin, who wrote The Light in Your Eyes, teamed up for this project. Newcomers Seo Ji-hoon, Noh Jong-hyun, Seo Young-joo, Ahn Ji-ho, Kim Yun-woo, Jung Woo-jin, and Jeon Jeon-seo will portray the characters inspired by BTS.
Filming began in October 2020 and wrapped up in October 2021. Begins≠Youth consists of 12 episodes, divided into three parts with four episodes each.
As a secondary creative work based on BTS’s “Hwayangyeonhwa,” the drama uses a pioneering content distribution method with Web 3.0 technology, moving beyond the traditional Web 2.0 structure of current OTT platforms.
