An inviting peek at preview photos of Black Knight heightens the anticipation for its upcoming launch!
Taking a futuristic concept, Black Knight threads on the premise of an air-polluted world in 2071, where people depend on respirator masks to breathe. Only one percent of the human race has survived and a strict social stratification has been established in the deserted lands of the Korean Peninsula.
In the set fictional world, delivery drivers aka “black knights” play a crucial role within this system, and for refugees, becoming a delivery driver is their only hope for survival.
Amid such chaos, Black Knight flows to the story of a legendary delivery driver named “5-8” with exceptional battle skills and a refugee “Sawol” who dreams of following in his footsteps.
Starring Kim Woo Bin as the legendary delivery man and knight 5-8, the show has garnered significant enthusiasm from fans worldwide.
Joining Kim Woo Bin in the lead cast are Song Seung Heon, who portrays the lone heir to the Chunmyung Group, Kang You Seok, who plays a young boy idolizing 5-8, and Esom, who stars as a major at the Defense Intelligence Command.

Correspondingly, the released stills contain the world view and dynamic story unique to Black Knight.
In the worst environment where desertification progressed rapidly after a comet impact, a small number of humans survived, but the class dividing the world became more solid.
Citizens of the general district survive by purchasing oxygen and daily necessities. However, refugees wander in the labor market or become hunters for delivery of goods.
Kim Woo-bin, the best courier driver, delivers oxygen during the day and is responsible for the survival of mankind. At night, he leads a double life as a black knight.
Giving a glimpse of their roles as delivery drivers, Kim Woo Bin shared what to expect in the series.
“During the day, we deliver parcels in our own area, just like normal courier drivers. At night, we help the lives of refugees and think together about how to live well together with them.”
Next, Ryu Seok, the successor of the rich and powerful Cheonmyeong Group lives in a world far from desolation.
Song Seung Heon introduced Ryu Seok as a person who “thinks that small sacrifices are unavoidable in a big goal,” giving a peek at the evil intent Ryu Seok is planning to execute.
Sawol, a former refugee, hears about the courier driver contest and goes to 5-8 to receive training, moving towards an impossible dream. The focus is on whether he will be able to meet the world he dreams of.
Kang You Seok revealed what he focused on in acting.
“Sa-wol was at a crossroads of choice and I put a lot of effort into showing him growing up.“
Seol-ah, a major in military intelligence who is digging into the kidnapping case in the general area, sits face to face with 5-8 and wonders what conversation they are having.
Esom describes her character’s motivation.
“Because she is a character with a sense of mission to protect the country, she did not want to lose her cool-headedness under any circumstances.”
Black Knight will be released on Netflix on May 12th.
