Writer Kwon’s Creative Process For Blind
In line with its upcoming release, writer Kwon Ki-kyung shared her writing inspiration and insights about Blind.
Writer Kwon, who usually likes courtroom and investigations, said drafted her idea since she wanted to do a courtroom thriller drama.
Further, she explains the drama title represents “people who ignore uncomfortable realities”. It contains the dark side of our society that knows the truth but ignores it for various reasons.
“I do not believe that the dark side of our society is created only by the great evil with great power. Wherever there are those who have power and those who don’t, there are victims when they are misused. That is why I think that many perpetrators in our society are mostly ordinary people.”
Notably, Writer Kwon focused on delivering the message of the drama as it dealt with sensitive topics such as public participation trials. At the same time, he said that he had to worry about not missing the genre’s charming points.
Confident in the actors to breathe life into the character he conceived, the writer expressed sincere gratitude to the lead stars.
He comments how Ok Taecyeon assimilated perfectly to the character of Ryu Seong-joon.
“I thought that actor Ok Taecyeon fits well with the character Ryu Seong-joon, a passionate detective, in terms of physicality and emotional expression such as strength and innocence. He rolled around and suffered a lot, but he used his body really well, so I was relieved.”
Accordingly, he only has warm praises for Ha Seok Jin and Jung Eun Ji.
“It was good that Ha Seok Jin was able to show a new side of him because it was his first time in a courtroom genre. Ryu Seong-hoon is like ‘a luxury watch that never broke down’, and he fits the role perfectly. Also, Jung Eun-ji is an actress who can express the maturity of Jo Eun-gi’s character better than anyone else for her age. I’m really looking forward to how the three actors will play the characters I created.”
In the special poster unveiled recently, excitement heightens with the introduction of the jury, the social worker and the two brothers entangled in a murder trial. The production team hints at the engrossing interaction among the randomly selected jurors and what kind of relationship they have with the murder trial.
Blind premieres on September 16 on tvN.
