Brewing Love

ENA’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama, Brewing Love, is poised to captivate audiences with its refreshing take on love and relationships.

Set to debut on November 4, Brewing Love follows the lives of a top saleswoman for a liquor company who hides her emotions and a sensitive brewery CEO who intuitively picks up on the emotions of those around him.

These two contrasting personalities come together in a charming and lighthearted romance that Director Park Seon-ho describes as both emotionally warm and realistically grounded. Despite the inevitable conflicts that arise from their differences, the story embraces their contrasting natures, showing how two people who are as different as beer flavors slowly come to understand and appreciate each other.

Director Park, known for his “romantic comedy mastery,” emphasizes the depth of the script, which he feels portrays realistic characters who bring a mix of light and dark tones to the storyline. He shares that the script’s warmth and comforting approach allow viewers to connect with the characters on a deeper level. The director aims to visually express the nuanced connection between Yong-ju and Min-ju as they gradually open up to one another.

Writer Lee Jung-shin, who crafted Brewing Love with a unique comedic edge, explains that the show combines a fantasy-like rural setting with relatable romance, allowing the audience to immerse in the quirkiness of a small town and the warmth of its people. Lee hopes to provide viewers with an exciting and heartwarming experience, as the show offers a new perspective on love and connection between two unlikely individuals. He shares that inspiration for the story came from learning about the brewing industry through his brother, who has ten years of experience working in liquor sales.

Viewers can look forward to a deeper dive into the culture and art of brewing and the emotional journeys of characters connected to the industry. According to Writer Lee, the show delves into two key themes: “identity” and “relationships.” The protagonist, Yong-ju, who has yet to truly understand herself, begins to uncover her own desires and feelings after meeting Min-ju, who is highly in tune with others. Lee expresses that he hopes the show will inspire viewers to reflect on their own self-discovery and emotional connections with others. Min-ju’s kindness and patient affection ultimately help Yong-ju open up, with the story exploring how affection and understanding can bridge even the widest gaps between people.

Lead actors Kim Sejeong and Lee Jong Won have received high praise from both the director and writer for bringing their characters to life with perfect chemistry and exceptional dedication. Director Park commends the actors for surpassing his expectations in both their visuals and acting, describing the synergy they create on-screen as truly compelling.

Writer Lee recalls his first meeting with the actors and shares how impressed he was by Kim Se-jeong’s commitment to her role, as well as Lee Jong-won’s sincerity and thoughtful approach to portraying Min-ju’s sensitivity. Lee describes working with Director Park as a fortunate experience, likening it to moving from a small boat to a cruise ship, as Park has a unique ability to understand and convey the subtle emotions within the script.

The supporting cast, including Shin Do Hyun and Baek Sung Chul, is also expected to contribute delightful chemistry to the story, adding more layers to the show’s rural setting and bringing humor to the dynamic community portrayed. The villagers of Min-ju’s hometown will be represented by a talented lineup, including Baek Hyun-joo, Park Ji-ah, Jang Hyuk-jin, and Jang Won-young, whose performances add depth and color to the town’s quirky charm.

In his final remarks, Director Park emphasizes his aim to create a series that delivers a balance of lighthearted romance, action, and humor, blending uplifting energy with comforting empathy. He hopes that viewers will feel the same joy and connection that the cast and crew felt while working on the show. Writer Lee sums up the appeal of Brewing Love by describing it as a “taste you’ve never seen before,” inviting viewers to experience a refreshing exploration of both brewing culture and human relationships.

Brewing Love will premiere on ENA at 10 p.m. on November 4 and will also be available on Genie TV and Genie TV Mobile, offering audiences a chance to immerse themselves in a heartwarming, humor-filled romance that brings the “worlds of alcohol” to life.
