JTBC has unveiled the dazzling cast of its upcoming historical drama, God’s Bead!
God’s Bead (LT) is an action-packed melodrama that plunges viewers into the turbulent Goryeo Dynasty (1258 AD) during the peak of its 30-year war with the Mongol Empire.
The series follows the perilous journey of a convoy tasked with recovering a sacred national relic, a Goryeo equivalent of the Holy Grail, imbued with miraculous power. Adding another layer of intrigue, the drama also explores the struggles of a princess determined to protect the convoy.
The project boasts an impressive creative team, with director Jung Dae-yoon (Reborn Rich, W: Two Worlds, She Was Pretty) and writer Jung Hyun-min (Nokdu Flower) joining forces.
Ahn Bo Hyun takes on the role of Baek Gyeol, the spirited and virtuous special commander leading the quest for the holy relic. Formerly a member of the elite Gyeonryong Army, Baek Gyeol’s love for the emperor’s daughter leads him to this dangerous assignment. Ahn Bo-hyun, known for his versatile performances, is expected to bring depth and nuance to Baek Gyeol’s character.
Lee Sung Min portrays Choi Gu, the seasoned leader of the Goryeo version of the Yabyeolcho special forces. Choi Gu’s path intersects with the young commander Baek Gyeol when he’s chosen to lead the Boju escort team. With his undeniable screen presence and exceptional acting prowess, Lee Sung-min is poised to deliver a captivating performance, and the dynamic between him and Ahn Bo-hyun is highly anticipated.
Claudia Kim plays Princess Gyeonghwa, the emperor’s youngest daughter. Haunted by a forced political marriage, she lives a secluded life in Gyeonghwagung Palace. Her heart is reignited when she encounters the passionate Baek Gyeol. Viewers are eager to see the chemistry unfold between Soo Hyun and Ahn Bo-hyun.
Ha Yoon Kyung completes the main cast as Geol-seung, the resourceful owner of Cheongru in Ganghwado and the escort team’s guide. Her peaceful existence is disrupted when Baek Gyeol enlists her help. Known for her fresh and engaging portrayals, Ha Yoon-kyung will be embarking on another exciting transformation.
