Choi Byung Gil, as director of High Class, demonstrated an exceptional fondness for actors and pride in his work.
The premiere of tvN’s upcoming drama High Class premieres on September 6. This drama unfolds suspense and mysteries about Song Yeo-ul’s (Cho Yeo Jeong) life as she becomes involved with the woman of her late husband in a paradise island.
High Class director Choi Byung Gil, gained recognition for his previous works because of his sound direction. Also, he mentioned in an interview that casting is half of the directing process. Choosing an actor who embodies a character is essential. Thus, he pays attention to actors that are fit for the job.
He lauds Cho Yeo Jeong’s passion, acting skills, consideration, and courtesy for her fellow actors. All of which combine to make her a remarkable and ideal actress. Additionally, he claims that he could sense her dignity in her dedicated appearance to the roles she portrays.
Moreover, he acknowledges Ha Joon‘s passion for acting, as a male protagonist. The director adds how the actor expressed a desire to appear cool and unrelenting, which led to the emergence of a rather interesting character.
On the other hand, he remarks that Park Se Jin is an actress with depth beyond her age who has taken on a new role but gently integrates the highs and lows of her emotions.
Director Choi also affirms that viewers may anticipate High Class actors’ tremendous synergy.
On Capturing the Message of High Class
He also expressed his gratitude to the actors and crew for ensuring that the filming was free of minor incidents and had the most harmonious and happy scenes on the set.
Aiming to create an invisible directing point for High Class, he noted that while the characters in the play appeared to be beautiful on the outside, they each experienced deep pain inside.
That is why Director Choi wants the viewers to determine which of them they prefer or despise the most, in order to empathize with everyone. Accordingly, he reveals the characters’ feelings are too complex to be conveyed merely as a love mystery.
Likewise, the plot does not center exclusively on Song Yeo-ul, but attempts to portray the lives of other parents without altering them. Choi Byung Gil believes audiences would interpret it as a satire reflecting society’s image.
Finally, he discloses his intention to capture a finely completed story without time constraint, and thus confidently guarantees that it would be fascinating until the finale.
High Class, tvN’s new Monday-Tuesday drama, launches on Monday, September 6th at 10:30 p.m.
