JTBC Rounds Up The Female Lead Cast of “Idol: The Coup”

In Idol: The Coup, well-loved girl group members will form the fictional girl group Cotton Candy.

JTBC’s drama Idol: The Coup (Director Noh Jong Chan) announces the casting of Ahn Hee Yeon, Solbin, Han So Eun, WJSN’s Exy, and Red Square’s Green as members of the idol group Cotton Candy.

Idol: The Coup threads on the story of individuals who are unable to let go of their unfulfilled dreams. It also chronicles the story of young people who proudly renounce their dreams. Previously, Ahn Hee Yeon, Kwak Si Yang, and Kim Min Kyu’s appearances were revealed.

Penning the script is writer Jung Yun Jeong who worked on Misaeng, Tale of Arang and The Bride of Habaek. In charge of the production is director Noh Jong Chan of Personal Preference and Clean With Passion For Now fame.

Cotton Candy is Star Peace’s first girl group. An idol to which leader Jena (Ahn Hee Yeon) belongs. She has producing and composing skills.

Although they debuted six years apart, they are close to disbanding as a group. In addition to this, their name is unfamiliar to the public.

Solbin of LABOUM was selected for the local role of rap and main dance. As the team’s troublemaker, she is expected to raise tension in the group.

Next, Han So Eun takes an active part as Cotton Candy’s visual center and eldest sister Stella. She possesses a kind heart.

Cotton Candy’s main vocalist, L, who has goddess-level vocal skills, is played by Cosmic Girls’ Exy. She is frustrated by failure and causing repressed anger.

Finally, Red Square Green was picked to play Chae-ah. She is a member who inherited the bloodline of famous performers but is otherwise unremarkable as a girl group member.

They intend to depict young individuals who fail adequately and flee to pursue new ambitions without regrets against the backdrop of an agency named Star Peace.

Idol: The Coup is set to air in November on JTBC.
