The main character of JTBC’s upcoming series wants to return to his happy times.
Although I’m Not A Hero is a fantasy romance about a man with extraordinary abilities yet unable to serve the purpose. It is also a story of a family with superpowers who have lost their rare abilities due to a chronic disease common to modern people and a woman who becomes intertwined as if by chance with them.
Director Cho Hyun-tak, who was recognized for his directing skills with SKY Castle, takes the lead, and writer Joo Hwa-mi, who showed storytelling that stimulates empathy through Marriage, Not Dating, pens the script. Here, writer Kang Eun-kyung, who receives absolute trust from the public for works such as Dr. Romantic, participates as a creator and improves her level of perfection.
The synergy of trustworthy actors such as Jang Ki Yong, Chun Woo Hee, Go Doo Shim, and Claudia Kim, who will add immersion to the novel setting and maximize the charm of the characters, is also an expected point.
In particular, expectations and interest are high as this is Jang Ki Yong’s post-military drama comeback.
Meanwhile, the released character still raises expectations for Jang’s unique transformation. First, the polar opposite atmosphere of the time traveler who lost his ‘time slip’ ability due to depression attracts attention.
Time travel is only possible with happy moments. However, since he cannot change the past, there is nothing he can do other than brood over his happiness alone.
The reason he became a firefighter was because he wanted to use his abilities to save someone, not himself. In the photo, the dependable figure dressed in uniform shows the strong sense of duty of a born firefighter.
However, the following photo foreshadows the upheaval that occurred to him. His face, which has lost its smile, is filled with some unknown sadness. His empty eyes and scattered liquor bottles give us an idea of the difficult times he endured.
Having lost his abilities due to depression, he can no longer return to the happy times. Look forward to the accident that completely changes Bok Ki-joo’s life and what changes Do Da-hae (Chun Woo Hee), a polite intruder who suddenly appears will bring to him.
Jang Ki Yong, who said that the script was as interesting as the title conveyed his thoughts about the series.
“The setting of ‘The story of a family with superpowers who lost their abilities due to a modern-day disease’ was refreshing. I was looking forward to working with a good production team even before filming. It’s been a long time since I worked on a project, so I went into it with half excitement and half anticipation. It is a work based on superpowers, but it is also a story about the meaning of ‘family’. The story of Ki-joo and Bok family will bring laughter and emotion, so please look forward to it.”
Although I’m Not A Hero premieres on May 4th at 10:30 PM on JTBC.
