Writer Choi Jin Young On Decorating Joseon Attorney Characters
Shedding more light on the characters, Writer Choi reveals her creative process in writing Joseon Attorney.
“I thought it would be interesting to talk about revenge through trial. It seems that modern people who want to be as fair and just as the law can relate to it, and especially because the background is the Joseon Dynasty, it becomes more refreshing.”
Delineating the charms of the characters, Writer Choi also lauds the committed portrayals of actors Woo Do Hwan, Kim Ji Yeon and Cha Hak Yeon.
Woo Do Hwan had to act while crossing over revenge, love, comic, action, and even the court scene, but he perfectly captured the emotions of the character in all those different genres.
Likewise, Kim Ji-yeon has the power to make her character more radiant and lovable with her natural charm.
“She is a character who starts with revenge but ends up choosing justice. She was born as the king’s daughter, but she is an ideal character who wants to live as a commoner.”
Lastly, Cha Hak Yeon has a deep affection for his character, and that heart is revealed in his acting.
“He is a person who stands on the border between reality and ideals. He struggles to live according to his conscience and convictions, not his innate position or desire, but reality continues to test him.”
Relevantly, Writer Choi also teases viewers that Joseon Attorney is a courtroom drama but romance will be a delightful treat in the series.
Joseon Attorney is broadcast every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 pm beginning March 31 on MBC.
