The actress joins the new romance series Is It A Coincidence as one of the lead casts.
Kim Da Som’s agency Story J Company confirmed that the actress will be appearing in the drama Is It A Coincidence.
Based on the popular Naver webtoon of the same name, Is It a Coincidence follows the life of young people after accidentally meeting their first love. It also depicts the story of searching for true love and chasing dreams.
Billed as a mellow romance genre, the series will be showcasing the two characters reminiscing their first love.
The series will be helmed by screenwriter Park Geu Ro and director Song Hyun Wook (The Golden Spoon, The King’s Affection, Undercover, Another Miss Oh).
Kim Da Som’s new role
Multi-faceted actress Kim Da Som plays the role of Kim Hye Ji, best friend of Lee Hong Joo (Kim So Hyun) and an English teacher at Obok High School. She was a quiet and shy girl when she was a teenager. But the moment she’s not in her school uniform, she discovers her true self, a person who is sincere and has clear preferences.

Debuted in 2010, Kim Da Som is the vocalist of the K-Pop girl group SISTAR. The four-piece act was loved by the public for their hit tracks including “Loving U”, “Touch My Body” and “Lonely”. They are well-known as the “Summer Queens” of K-pop.
In between the group’s promotions, Kim Da Som has been also active in her acting endeavors. She gradually builds up her filmography by challenging various genres and characters. She starred in various television series including The Virtual Bride, Band of Sisters, He Is Psychometric, Was It Love?, and film Like a French Film.
With her drama Band of Sisters, she was recognized for his remarkable growth and further impressed viewers as she played the drama’s antagonist Yang Dal Hee. Through her villain role, she won the Best New Actress award at the 2017 SBS Drama Awards.
Just recently, the actress was also confirmed to star in the upcoming MBC fantasy romance drama The Season of Kkokdu.
Meanwhile, Is It a Coincidence has begun filming and will air in 2023.
