RELATED STORY

Ryu Hye Young plays the spirited Bae Moon-jung, a junior lawyer with a blunt tongue but a deeply affectionate soul. Known for her warm voice and expressive performances, Ryu is already drawing attention for her nuanced portrayal of a character who’s as spicy as she is sincere.

Reflecting on her decision to join Law and the City, Ryu shared, “From my very first meeting with the director, I felt this would be a fun and lively set. That energy drew me in.” She added that Moon-jung’s everyday dilemmas closely mirror those of her real-life peers, which made the role all the more personal. “She’s someone my age, going through relatable struggles—I felt I could bring her to life in an honest way,” she said.

Bae Moon-jung might come across as fiery, but underneath her sharp remarks is a warm heart that genuinely cares for people. Ryu amusingly described her character as “Cheongyang chili peppers in a savory soybean paste stew”—a bold kick wrapped in comfort. She went on to say, “Portraying Moon-jung made me reflect on how I show love. She’s overflowing with affection, and I tried to match that by being more open and human in my performance, especially toward those around her.”

Ryu also encouraged viewers to watch Seocho-dong casually: “It’s the kind of drama you can enjoy while having dinner. Without even realizing it, you’ll find yourself relating to the characters and stories.”

Next, Kang You Seok is ready to charm viewers once again—this time as Jo Chang-won, an upbeat, talkative associate lawyer in Law and the City. With his signature warmth and infectious smile, Kang promises to serve up a performance as delightful as dessert.

He adds a refreshing touch of brightness as the extroverted mood-maker of the group—someone who fills the room with chatter, lightens tense moments, and keeps spirits high.

Reflecting on his decision to join the cast, Kang said, “It felt like a warm, everyday drama. The script really drew me in, and after talking with the director, I knew I wanted to work with this team.” His enthusiasm for the project mirrors the cheerful energy he’s set to bring on screen.

Recalling his first impression of Jo Chang-won, Kang shared with a laugh, “I thought, ‘Wow, this guy talks a lot!’” He described the character with playful precision: “He’s the mood maker, the overtalker, and definitely the sweetest one in the group—like a dessert!

With relatable characters, thoughtful dialogue, and just the right blend of humor and heart, Law and the City is poised to become a comforting new companion for weekend viewers, especially office workers looking for stories that mirror their own.
