A Standout Music Drama Powered By Charming Characters
Acquainting the audience about the story, PD Ahn posits the premise of “living with your favorite idols”.
“When I interviewed idols myself, I found that they were living more normally than I thought. Rather than their glamorous side, I wanted to show they are not different from the youth of their age. That their off-stage life is not different from normal youth.”
Acknowledging the relatively well-represented dramas in the background of Korean entertainment, he differentiates Let Me Be Your Knight to the thriving music that will be featured in the series.
“We stand out as a ‘music drama’. A lot of good music comes out, and I think you can watch it while enjoying it.”
Relaying the casting criteria, PD Ahn based it on the different charms the LUNA members can show. After discussing with Lee Jun Young, he proceeded with the idols who are new to acting. He is also confident that the three would pull off their characters well.
Likewise, he applauds Jung In Sun whose radiant energy complements her role well. Her character accidentally got a job under the guise of a “personal doctor at the dormitory of a fictional world-renowned idol band.

Cast Preparations & Anticipated Synergy
Jung In Sun confessed of being unfamiliar to the story overview. But she decides to take the drama because she likes healing stories. Themes about people with wounds that unintentionally heal each other.
Evidently happy about the cast synergy, Jung said the five members have different personalities and charms. It helped in forging harmonious chemistry. She also hints that her interaction with Lee Jun Young is a point to watch.
“I probably feel more chemistry with Lee, as we have more scenes together,” said Jung. Lee also believed they formed a perfect pair, because “she is like a gift package that keeps on giving so many unanticipated surprises”.
Meanwhile, Lee Jun Young shares the preparations he made for his role. Diligently studying his role, he turned to study composing and technical terms. He also practiced Seoul dialect to fit into his role as Yoon Tae-in.
He also admits the challenge of showing irritation while acting to his role as a perfectionist and harsh leader of an idol band. With that, he resembles Tae-in as he is also driven to achieve good results.
In terms of being synch to his character, Yoon Jisung rates Yu-chan to be 80% similar to himself. In his debut performance, he would need to practice and play a drummer. At the press conference, he also reminisces the beautiful memories shared with former Wanna One members.
“We both like to laugh well. But he is someone who keeps to himself his thoughts. Unlike Yu-chan who says what he wants to say.”
Yoon Ji-sung, Kim Jong-hyun, and Kim Dong-hyun all participated in a reality competition show PRODUCE 101 Season 2 in 2017. The new series extended their past connections as one band. Dorm life in the story reminded Yoon of his experiences in Wanna One. “I haven’t lived in a dorm for a long time,” said Yoon, “ and I recall a valuable time of my life during the filming process.”
Like Yoon Jisung, Kim Jong Hyun (NU’EST’s JR) and Kim Donghyun from AB6IX are taking on their first acting challenge. They also talk about the difficulties of being an idol, their main occupation.
With nine years in showbiz, this was also a TV series debut for Kim Jong-hyun. He said “it’s starting from scratch for me on set”, but he was grateful for support from NU’EST members.
“They all have prior experiences in dramas or musicals, and I’ve received some great advice from them. We always cheer for others on their achievements, and encourage each other to recognize their efforts or performances.”
Kim Dong-hyun often took care of others in AB6IX, but he became the youngest one in the series. While he wasn’t used to acting like a spoiled kid at the beginning, he later enjoyed all the attention from the crew. He was also elected as “the most adorable one” by cast members.
Let Me Be Your Knight is a healing story that touches the wounds of the heart. Moreover, the character stories aim to deliver warmth to the small screen.
Finally, PD Ahn invites viewers to anticipate the series. He also asks to pay attention to how the song changes over the course of the series.
“The title of the drama has been changed once. I decided on a title that can comprehensively show the message, thinking that a night alone can have the meaning of being lonely and ‘wouldn’t it be better if we were together?’
