The pursuit of treasure ignites a storm of ambition in Low Life, the latest Disney+ original that dives deep into the tangled web of human greed, betrayal, and survival.
On July 2, the platform unveiled the striking main poster and gripping trailer for the series, heightening anticipation for this high-stakes drama set in 1977 Shinan.
Low Life follows a motley crew of seemingly harmless country folks who descend into chaos when a sunken treasure ship reemerges from legend.
The poster commands attention with a lineup of powerhouse actors—Ryu Seung Ryong, Yang Se Jong, Im Soo Jung, Kim Eui Sung, Kim Seong Oh, and more—each framed in gritty determination as they converge on the ocean’s edge. Their faces, turned in different directions with wary intensity, paired with the tagline “Deceive, Steal, and Survive,” signal an unpredictable journey packed with shifting alliances and ruthless ambition.
The newly dropped trailer amplifies that tension. Oh Gwan-seok (Ryu Seung-ryong) dives into Shinan’s murky waters chasing whispers of buried riches, while Song Sa-jang (Kim Jong-soo) holds key intel on the treasure’s whereabouts. Soon, a wave of fortune-seekers floods in: from cunning Yang Jeong-suk (Im Soo Jung) and calculating Professor Kim (Kim Eui-sung) to shady Mokpo cop Hong-gi (Lee Dong Hwi). As the group’s fragile cooperation fractures, Im Jeon-chul’s ominous warning—“I don’t trust anyone on this ship”—sets the stage for a clash of survival instincts.

Director Kang Yoon-sung teases the series’ layered storytelling: “Each episode introduces new characters and twists that shift the narrative. Watching how they navigate competing interests is the heart of the show.” He added that recreating the authentic vibe of the 1970s was a major goal—and one he proudly achieved.
Ryu Seung-ryong describes the show as a meditation on desire: “Chasing treasure is like chasing the wind—elusive, insatiable, and empty. The story captures that perfectly.”
Low Life premieres on July 16 with three episodes, followed by a staggered rollout ending August 13, totaling 11 episodes. Expect a thrilling ride through sunken gold, buried secrets, and the beastly sides of those who crave it all.
