Disney+ has unveiled a striking poster and character teaser for its original series Made in Korea, released on the 19th, featuring actor Hyun Bin radiating a commanding presence as the complex and ambitious Baek Ki-tae.
Set against the turbulent yet transformative backdrop of 1970s South Korea, Made in Korea follows the fierce collision between two men whose ambitions shape—and threaten—the nation. Hyun Bin takes on the role of Baek Ki-tae, a man determined to climb to the very top of wealth and political influence by treating the country itself as his business empire. Opposing him is prosecutor Jang Gun-young, played by Jung Woo Sung, who pursues Baek Ki-tae with an unrelenting, almost chilling obsession. Together, their intertwined destinies ignite a story of power, corruption, and survival in a time of chaos and rapid change.
In the series, Hyun Bin embodies a KCIA chief who leads a double life. While occupying one of the most influential positions in state intelligence, he simultaneously operates in the shadows as a daring businessman, driven by an ambition that refuses to be extinguished. His character navigates political intrigue, dangerous alliances, and high-stakes deals, constantly blurring the line between national duty and personal gain.
The newly released poster captures this duality with sharp symbolism. Hyun Bin’s intense gaze pierces through the frame as he dons a wiretapping device, all set against a background shaped like a dress shirt silhouette reminiscent of the Korean Peninsula. The bold tagline, “I am a businessman,” adds an extra layer of intrigue, suggesting a ruthless pragmatism at the heart of Baek Ki-tae’s worldview.
The character teaser deepens the tension. Beginning with a dramatic black-and-white silhouette of Hyun Bin, the video immediately grabs attention. His chilling narration sets the tone: “This is a fight where someone has to die. And that won’t be me.” As the visuals intensify, he continues, “I will bring down those with more power than me, and in the end, I will change the world. Because the world is a battlefield for the powerful. It’s a battlefield where someone’s death becomes an opportunity for me.” These lines crystallize Baek Ki-tae’s ruthless philosophy—a man shaped by an era where power is the only justice, and victory demands sacrifice.
Made in Korea will premiere on Disney+ with a six-episode rollout: the first two episodes on December 24, two more on December 31, followed by one episode each on January 7 and January 14.
