Netflix has announced TYGO, a new global action thriller led by Don Lee (The Roundup, Eternals), Lee Jin Wook (Squid Game), and Lalisa “LISA” Manobal of BLACKPINK, who recently made her acting debut in The White Lotus.
Produced by Big Punch Pictures and AGBO, with Nova Film Inc. and B&C Group as co-producers, the film expands the world of Netflix’s hit Extraction franchise.
TYGO marks Don Lee’s return to Netflix following the global success of The Roundup series. “I’m thrilled that this project, which I’ve developed for years with AGBO, is finally moving into production,” he said, adding that the film will bring “a distinctly Korean identity” to the Extraction universe.
Lee Jin Wook, known internationally for Squid Game, joins the cast and says it is “a great honor” to enter a franchise he has long admired. He expressed excitement about working with Don Lee and Lisa, noting he will “do [his] very best” to meet audience expectations.
Lisa, taking on her first major film role, said she is honored to join the project. “Being in an action movie has always been a dream of mine,” she said. “For my film debut to be such an exciting project feels very special.”
Based on a graphic novel created by Anthony and Joe Russo and Ande Parks, the Extraction franchise is Netflix’s most successful action property. The producing team for TYGO includes Don Lee for Big Punch Pictures; the Russo brothers, Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco, and Albert J. Kim for AGBO; Won-ki Choi for Nova Film; and Chris S. Lee for B&C Group. The film is written by Cha Woo-jin and directed by Lee Sang-yong, known for The Roundup films.
Set within the shared Extraction universe, the story follows Tygo (Don Lee), a former child soldier turned mercenary who seeks revenge in Korea’s criminal underworld after a mission goes wrong. The film promises high-intensity action paired with emotional depth, highlighting the craftsmanship of Korean filmmaking on a global stage.
AGBO’s Angela Russo-Otstot described the collaboration as a continuation of the studio’s long-standing partnership with Netflix, praising Don Lee and director Lee Sang-yong as key creative forces. She also welcomed Lisa and Lee Jin-uk, calling them “world-class talent.”
Nova Film CEO Choi Won-ki emphasized the project’s global ambition, supported by a team of experienced Korean and Hollywood filmmakers. B&C Group CEO Chris S. Lee added that TYGO represents “years of passion and persistence,” built from the beginning with a “bold, Korea-driven vision” aimed at international audiences.
