The cast of the newest MBC drama On The Verge Of Insanity which will air this June will surely fill your Wednesdays and Thursdays with happiness and life lessons!
MBC’s upcoming mini-series titled On The Verge Of Insanity is already gaining attention from K-Drama fans and it is because of its amazing cast lineup!
Directed by Kim Geun Hong and Choi Jeong In, the series will tell the story of various middle-aged office workers, who are all struggling to thrive and survive in a highly competitive workplace setting.
Through the ideas of brilliant writer Jeong Do Yoon, the drama will also show the common problems workers face when they are already reaching the peak of their careers, such as resigning, layoffs, retirement and desire to switch jobs.
With such a brilliant plot, expectations are now rising regarding how lead stars Jung Jae Young, Moon So Ri, Lee Sang Yeob and Kim Ga Eun will portray their respective characters, who are technically all employees at Hanmyung Electronics.
A LOWDOWN OF THE MAIN CAST AND THEIR ROLES
Jung Jae Young will play the role Choi Ban Suk, who is a developer and veteran engineer at the Home Appliance division of Hanmyung Electronics. With his warm personality and competitiveness, he was able to survive the sudden layoffs that took place within the company.
However, as soon as he gets comfortable with his status and place, he somehow ends up in the human resources department, where Dang Ja Young (Moon So Ri) works as the Head and Team Leader. Together, they will show a symbiotic relationship between a boss and an employee and how Ban Suk will survive his new position.
Meanwhile, Moon So Ri will portray Dang Ja Young, who is the person in charge of the HR Department of the Home Appliance division of Hanmyung Electronics. Known among her teammates and subordinates as a workaholic individual, she has a burning desire to be promoted as an Executive Director after working for the company for a long time. She will then meet Ban Suk, who is completely clueless about how HR works as well as her ex-husband Han Se Kwon (played by Lee Sang Yeob), whom she treats as her mortal enemy.
Lee Sang Yeob will star as Han Se Kwon who is Hanmyung’s Head for Development. He takes advantage of his relationship with the family of the company’s owner to make sure that no one stands in his way to be the No. 1 employee at the company. Known for having an inferiority complex, he also does not want his ex-wife to gain promotion so he does his best in order to prevent it from happening.
Kim Ga Eun will portray the character of Soo Na Ri, a senior employee in the product planning team and Ja Young’s ultimate rival. She is famous within the company for her top-tier visuals and for being the sister-in-law of the company’s business unit manager.
SECONDARY CAST MEMBERS WHO WILL PUT MORE COLOR TO THE PROGRAM
Aside from the main leads, Ahn Nae Sang, Park Won Sang, Kim Nam Hee, Kim Jung Ki, Jo Bok Rae and Cha Cheong Hwa will also display their great acting skills and synergy in the drama.
Ahn Nae Sang stars as Roh Byung Guk, who is the oldest hardware developer in the Research department. He has a background in engineering and dedicated most of his life to Hanmyung. He somehow finds it hard to keep up with the latest trends considering his age but he is a noble man full of wisdom. The story will show how he will face the threat of layoffs.
Meanwhile, Park Won Sang will portray the role of Paeng Su Gon, who became the team leader of the Purchasing department after resigning from his previous post as a developer alongside Ban Suk and Gong Gong Pil (played by Park Seong Gun).
Kim Nam Hee will transform into Shin Han Soo, who is a professional leader by heart. He moved to Hanmyung despite being recognized by a major conglomerate, where he works as a member of the QA team. The drama is expected to show how he will cope up with his new role since it is far from his major forte which is development.
Furthermore, Kim Jung Ki will take on the role of Koh Jung Sik, a director at the Center for Home Appliance Research Center and a master in internal politics. He likes to take credit for the company’s major innovations yet he is still close to his promotion as a business manager.
Jo Bok Rae will portray the character Han Seung Gi, the young and fresh Chief Executive Officer of Hanmyung, who wants to attain recognition from his employees and grow the company further. Despite his bright personality, everyone around him tends to get nervous.
Lastly, Cha Cheong Hwa will also join the cast as Shin Jeong Ah, a Manager at the Finance Team, who is an employee on a contract basis. As Ja Young’s closest friend and Han Soo’s older sister, she somehow intimidates a lot of people with her fiery attitude. She returned to Hanmyung after she resigned impulsively and after her business faced bankruptcy.
The production crew of On The Verge Of Insanity stated “As the drama deals with the fierce survival period of middle-aged office workers, there will be fun different from the office work so far. “A lot of actors who will maximize the charm of the character and expand the consensus will also join. did.
