The two talented young artists are set to lead KBS2 TV’s new Monday-Tuesday drama Fantasy Sonata.
Based on a webtoon of the same name, Fantasy Sonata blends fantasy, history, drama and romance as it traverses the story of a man with two conflicting personalities and the woman who loves him in a refreshing affection and fierce obsession.
In Fantasy Sonata, Yeonwol (Hong Ye Ji) hides her identity and becomes an assassin to avenge her family. While trying to assassinate the king, she falls into a trap set by someone and wakes up the next day with no memory of her life. Thereafter, she is appointed as the crown prince’s concubine.
The crown prince, who has two completely opposite personalities, deals with her, revealing his different ways of anger and love towards her.
Fantasy Sonata foreshadows the turbulent and heartbreaking story of a prince with two personalities and a concubine who is faced with an inevitable choice.
Park Jihoon especially plays the prince with two personalities. He plays two roles for the first time since his acting debut foretelling a passionate performance.
Hong Ye Ji plays the role of Yeonwol, who has a life full of twists and turns, going from an assassin to a concubine, and works with Park Jihoon.
Sajo Hyun, who will be played by Park Jihoon, has both visual ability and a smart brain and uses his innate aesthetic sense to work as a fashion designer in a low-street clothing store while hiding his identity.
He is also a person who has not forgotten the pain he received from his oppressive father, Sajo Monk, when he was young. Another personality, Ak-hee, is a person who is overflowing with charm but is cursed to feel pain as if his entire body is being torn apart when he touches the skin.
Yeon Wol who will closely intertwine with Park Jihoon’s characters is the royal descendant of the fallen Yeon dynasty. As Yeonpunghak’s only daughter, she has lived as an assassin and one day, without her knowledge, she becomes the crown prince’s concubine.
Fantasy Sonata is penned by writer Yoon Kyeong-ah who wrote Dali and Cocky Prince, Queen for Seven Days and more. This is a work in collaboration with PD Lee Jeong-seop, who is known for his sensational directing in dramas such as Healer, Angel’s Last Mission: Love and Baker King.
KBS 2TV’s new Monday-Tuesday drama Fantasy Sonata, which is highly anticipated for the unconventional and heartbreaking historical romance between Park Jihoon and Hong Ye Ji is scheduled to be broadcast in January next year.
