K-drama fans can look forward to a tense, emotionally charged ride as Jang Dong-yoon takes the lead in Queen Mantis, premiering September 5th.
The new crime thriller promises a gripping mix of suspense, action, and unexpected family drama that will keep viewers on edge.
Set two decades after the capture of the infamous serial killer known as “Mantis,” the series follows a shocking copycat case that throws the nation into chaos. Detective Cha Soo-yeol (Jang Dong Yoon) is determined to catch the culprit—but the trail leads him to the most unlikely partner imaginable: his estranged mother, Jeong Yi-shin (Go Hyun Jung), the original “Mantis” herself.
The uneasy alliance between a son who has despised his mother his entire life and a mother with blood on her hands forms the emotional and moral heart of the drama. Can they work together to stop a killer before history repeats itself?
Directed by Byun Young-joo (Cart) and written by Lee Young-jong (12:12 The Day), Queen Mantis combines sharp storytelling with layered character work. The casting of Go Hyun-jung as the cold yet enigmatic “Mantis” and Jang Dong-yoon as her conflicted detective son ensures high emotional stakes and intense on-screen chemistry.
