Eagerly-awaited tvN series, Record of Youth, finally secured launch date in September 2020. Exact day is yet to be announced though.
Top-billed by Park Bo Gum, Park So Dam and Byeon Woo Seok, Record of Youth threads on the stories of youth who strive to achieve their dreams and claim love sparing no effort against the restrictions of realities. It particularly touches on the debilitating truth of how even dreaming has been a luxury for young people, thus igniting them to fight their own ways to fulfill it.
The drama not only boasts a formidable young cast, its creative team is also a dream tandem. Lauded for his top-notch and creative series, Director Ahn has scored a highly-successful streak. His works include Stranger, Memories of the Alhambra and Watcher. Screenwriter Ha Myung Hee of High Society, Doctors and Temperature of Love fame, is tasked to pen the script.
In the first table-read session, Director Ahn and Writer Ha meet the main cast Park Bo Gum, Park So Dam and Byeon Woo Seok in bright spirit.
The supporting cast are also present including Ha Hee Ra, Shin Ae Ra, Han Jin Hee, Park Su Young, Seo Sang Won, Shin Dong Mi, Lee Chang Hoon, Lee Jae Won, Kwon Soo Hyun and Cho Yoo-jung. The combination of young and seasoned actors reflect a balanced cast ready to bring life to the pictured stories in the series.
Prior to the full-scale start, Director Ahn said, “It is a work that aims to give good influence. “I hope you can make lingering messages through the Record of Youth.”
Meet the ‘Record of Youth’ Main Cast
Park Bo Gum will play the role of Sa Hye-jun, a pragmatic and ambitious young man, who is an aspiring model/actor juggling idealism with the reality of everyday life. He has an optimistic and amiable personality that is well balanced out by an objective and flexible sense of judgment.
Coming back a year after hit tvN romance melodrama, Encounter, Park effortlessly draws fans with anticipation owing to his unrivaled star quality. His other impressive works include Reply 1988 and Love in the Moonlight.
Park So Dam, with her commanding onscreen presence, will play An Jeong-ha. She is an aspiring makeup artist and a smart young woman with a strong self-esteem. With inherent wit and hard work, she follows her own path and finds security in her own unwavering resolve under external pressures.
As part of the critically acclaimed and Cannes award-winning film, Parasite, Park’s new series breaks her small screen hibernation. She last appeared in trendy romantic comedy, Cinderella and the Four Knights. Thereafter, she has diligently worked on film projects such as Veteran, The Priests and The Silenced. Her role in Record of Youth breaks her small screen hiatus since Beautiful Mind.
Byeon Woo Seok readies to portray Sa Hye-jun’s best friend Won Hae-hyo who wants to prove himself through hard work. He is friendly and gentle, but competitive. Because he gives his utmost effort to the things he cares deeply about, he cannot stand being brushed off just because he was born into privilege.
Strengthening his acting portfolio, Byun has left lingering impressions in dramas he worked on. That includes Dear My Friends, Search: WWW and Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency.
Record of Youth, produced by Studio Dragon and Pan Entertainment (Winter Sonata, The Moon Embracing the Sun, Fight for My Way and When the Camellia Blooms), will premiere exclusively on Netflix outside Korea in September 2020. While in Korea, tvN has the show’s first-window broadcast rights.
