tvN’s fresh Monday-Tuesday drama Second Shot at Love is set to bring a splash of humor and heart with Korea’s first drama encouraging sobriety.
Scheduled to premiere on May 12, the series has unveiled a teaser video and two eye-catching “NO-drinking” posters, raising excitement for the journey of a woman trying to leave her drinking habits behind.
Second Shot at Love follows Han Geum-joo, (Choi Sooyoung) a self-proclaimed moderate drinker, who reconnects with her alcohol-averse first love, Seo Eui-jun (Gong Myung). Their reunion sets the stage for a spirited battle against her reliance on booze.
The star-studded cast, including Kim Sung Ryung, Kim Sang Ho, and Jo Yoon Hee, promises dynamic chemistry and comedic charm.
The teaser video opens with the line, “Our country is tolerant of alcohol,” before diving into Geum-joo’s chaotic life filled with frequent toasts and hazy nights. As things spiral, the lively atmosphere turns serious—shouts of her name ring out as she loses consciousness, and Seo Eui-jun sternly warns, “You really need to quit drinking.”
Despite her cheerful protests, it’s clear the road to sobriety won’t be easy.
The released posters cleverly depict this inner struggle. One features Han Geum-joo submerged in a giant beer mug, grinning as Seo Eui-jun struggles to pull her out—hinting at the uphill battle ahead. The other shows Seo Eui-jun in a doctor’s coat, standing as her “alcohol therapist,” asking, “Have you ever thought that you should quit drinking?” The images vividly portray the push and pull between someone clinging to her habit and someone determined to help her let go.
Blending humor with heartfelt moments, Second Shot at Love sets itself apart as a relatable and bold new series tackling drinking culture through a refreshingly witty lens. Viewers can look forward to a thoughtful, entertaining take on sobriety starting May 12.
