Kim So Hyun and Chae Jong Hyeop are set to evoke memories of first love in the new tvN drama Serendipity’s Embrace.
Premiering on July 22, this Monday-Tuesday show, directed by Song Hyun-wook and written by Park Gro, is produced by Studio Dragon, IOK Company, and Base Story. The series, based on the Naver webtoon by Nam Ji-eun and Kim In-ho, tells the romantic tale of former high school sweethearts who reconnect by chance after a decade, rekindling their old feelings.
Directed by the creative team behind The King’s Affection and Another Miss Oh and penned by newcomer Park Gro, the drama features a star-studded cast including Kim So Hyun, Chae Jong Hyeop, Yoon Ji On, and Kim Dasom.
The story navigates the journey from innocent teenage love to mature relationships in their twenties, promising to strike a chord with viewers through its relatable and heartfelt narrative.
Kim So Hyun stars as Lee Hong-joo, an animation producer wary of love after a painful breakup in her senior year of high school. She encounters Kang Hoo-young, who reenters her life after ten years, prompting her to confront her past. Kim expressed her excitement about portraying the charming and warm-hearted Lee Hong-joo.
Chae Jong Hyeop takes on the role of Kang Hoo-young, a confident financial planner whose life is turned upside down when he reunites with his first love. Chae described his excitement and honor in playing such a multifaceted character.
Yoon Ji On plays Bang Jun-ho, a free-spirited writer longing to rewrite his past, while Kim Dasom transforms into Kim Hye-ji, a dedicated English teacher and Lee Hong-joo’s best friend, who is committed to finding true love.
Serendipity’s Embrace airs at 8:40 PM on July 22, following Player 2.
