Ong Seong Wu suits up to his Shall We Have a Cup of Coffee character – and it’s hard not to smell a romantic aroma.
The series is from artist Heo Young-man who released the original work in celebrating his 40th anniversary. For its drama adaptation, the production plans to capture the warm healing value of the original work while presenting an in-depth knowledge about coffee from selection, roasting, and extraction of beans.
Ong Seong Wu challenges an emotional human drama that depicts a newbie barista who jumped into the world of coffee with pure passion. He learns about coffee and people through the mentoring of a coffee master, Park Seok to be portrayed by Park Ho San.
In the published teasers, Ong exudes an aura comparable to that of a professional barista. There are various appearances such as pouring coffee in front of an espresso machine and pouring coffee with a hand drip kettle. From comfortable facial expressions to small gestures, to standing in front of an espresso machine, the way he naturally blends into the cafe draws attention.
Moreover, it feels like a bright and warm visual reminiscent of a coffee commercial, that you can literally smell the fragrant flavor of the coffee made by Ong Seong Wu.
The production team said that this naturalness was due to hard work in immersing in the character. He received barista training several times before filming. “On the path of a barista who started with pure passion, he bumps and falls, learns coffee and the world, and grows, and his new life character will be born.”
Kakao Entertainment further stimulates curiosity about the work by releasing a second coffee invitation video containing Ong Seong-wu’s sweet narration along with the first still cut of its lead actor.
In a soft, low voice, Ong Seong Wu raises expectations for his work by narrating, “We invite you to a place with fragrant coffee and warm people. Shall we have a cup of coffee together?”
Shall We Have a Cup of Coffee premieres on October 24 with 12 episodes of 25 minutes on kakao TV.
