Netflix has announced that Season 2 of Squid Game is set to premiere on December 26, 2024, with the final season slated for 2025. This news was shared with fans worldwide through a heartfelt letter penned by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the series’ Executive Producer, Writer, and Director.
In Squid Game Season 2, three years after winning the deadly competition, Player 456, determined to uncover the masterminds behind the game, uses his newfound wealth to fuel his investigation. His search begins with a mysterious man playing ddakji in the subway. However, as he makes progress, he realizes that dismantling the organization responsible will require him to re-enter the deadly game he once survived.
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, celebrated for making history as the first Asian to win Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series at the 74th Primetime Emmys®, returns to helm the series as director, writer, and producer. The cast includes Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, Wi Ha Jun, and Gong Yoo reprising their roles from Season 1, alongside a stellar lineup of new cast members such as Im Si Wan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Gyu Young, Lee Jin Wook, Park Sung Hoon, Yang Dong Geun, Kang Ae Sim, Lee David, Choi Seung Hyun, Roh Jae Won, Jo Yu Ri, and Won Ji An, portraying a diverse array of characters in the upcoming season.
