“Study Group” Levels Up: Season 2 Confirmed Plus Global OTT Awards Nod

Fans of Study Group have a reason to celebrate—Season 2 of the hit action-comedy drama starring Hwang Min Hyun is officially in development.

TVING’s original series Study Group (directed by Lee Jang-hoon and Yoo Beom-sang, written by Eom Seon-ho and Oh Bo-hyun, planned by Studio Dragon, produced by Ylab) has also earned international recognition, landing a nomination for “Best OTT Original” at the 2025 International Streaming Festival’s Global OTT Awards.

Based on the popular webtoon by Shin Hyung-wook and Yoo Seung-yeon, the drama follows Yoon Ga-min (Hwang Min Hyun), a student determined to hit the books—but who’s better with his fists than with formulas. Set in the worst high school imaginable, his unlikely “study group” becomes a chaotic, action-packed journey toward surviving both exams and enemies.

Ylab, the studio behind both the webtoon and the drama, says this nomination will fuel their mission to turn Study Group into a “super IP.” After topping TVING’s charts for five consecutive weeks and ranking in the top five across 143 countries on Rakuten Viki—snagging the #1 spot in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Taiwan—the drama’s global appeal is clear.

Season 2 development is already underway, and the Study Group brand is expanding beyond the screen. Merchandise and fan events are in full swing:

  • A Tumblbug crowdfunding campaign for the iconic “Yuseong High School Windbreaker” hit over 450% of its goal in just three days.

  • A themed collaboration café will run from October 2 to November 2.

  • From October 16, fans can visit a pop-up booth at the 2025 World Webtoon Festival at Lotte World Mall, featuring new official goods.

With more collaborations and events planned ahead of Season 2’s release, Ylab is building momentum to keep fans engaged year-round.
