Hwang Min Hyun is gearing up to unleash his hidden martial arts prowess in the highly anticipated TVING original series Study Group.
Scheduled to premiere on the 23rd, the series has heightened expectations with the release of a dynamic poster and teaser trailer showcasing the thrilling journey of Yoon Ga-min (played by Hwang Min-hyun) and his bold “study group.”
Study Group is a high-octane high school action drama with a comedic twist. It follows Yoon Ga-min, a student who dreams of academic success but is naturally gifted at fighting instead of studying. Determined to succeed in the grueling college entrance exams at one of the worst schools, he forms an unconventional “study group.” The show promises a blend of exhilarating action and heartfelt growth as Ga-min and his classmates band together to defend their group and pursue their dreams, offering viewers a satisfying dose of catharsis.
Directed by Lee Jang-hoon (Miracle, Be With You), and penned by rookie writers Eom Seon-ho and Oh Bo-hyun, the series combines humor, action, and the struggles of youth in a refreshingly original way. With a vibrant cast that includes Han Ji-eun, Cha Woo-min, Lee Jong-hyun, Shin Soo-hyun, Yoon Sang-jung, and Gong Do-yu, Study Group has already captured the attention of drama enthusiasts.
Hwang Min-hyun’s Fiery Transformation
Hwang Min Hyun steps into the spotlight with a dramatic transformation, shedding his boy-next-door image for a fierce, action-packed role. The newly unveiled poster captures Ga-min swatting away pencils flying toward him, his powerful fists and determined expression hinting at the strength he has kept hidden beneath his innocent façade. The tagline, “Found it! The eyes for studying,” alongside his sharp gaze behind thick glasses, teases an exciting story about a young man who fights to study.
The teaser trailer dives into Yoon Ga-min’s entry into Yuseong Technical High School, notoriously known as the “universe’s most unlucky school.” A self-proclaimed bookworm who trains his body just to study, Ga-min possesses an unrelenting will, unmatched strength, and unparalleled effort—but his grades place him 279th out of 280 students. The phrase “A bookworm who knows nothing but studying enters the universe’s most unlucky school” sets the stage for a series of chaotic and humorous events.
Arriving at Yuseong High with high hopes, Ga-min is instead met with a classroom more akin to an action movie scene. Despite the chaos, his resolve to study remains unshaken, even as troublemakers misinterpret his “Study Group Recruitment” poster as an open invitation to brawl. From defending his study group to conquering Yuseong High with his hidden strength, Ga-min’s journey is packed with thrilling twists. Supporting him are temporary teacher Lee Han-kyung (Han Ji-eun), his staunch ally, and Kim Se-hyun (Lee Jong-hyun), a rival focused on academics, both of whom add depth and intrigue to the narrative.
Yoon Ga-min’s fight to create a study group and protect it at all costs promises a unique mix of humor, action, and heartfelt moments. With a fresh concept, a talented cast, and action-packed sequences, Study Group is set to captivate audiences.
