The sequel to fan-favorite gumiho series Tale of the Nine-Tailed is officially sealed as Tail of the Nine Tailed 1938.
As hinted by the title, the Lee brothers are set to embark on a new challenge in the year 1938.
This news piques interest because we can see a retro vibe mixing the signature Korean folklore in Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938 (LT).
Reprising their roles are popular actors Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum as Lee Yeon and Lee Rang respectively.
Joining them in the lead cast are Kim So Yeon and Ryu Kyung Soo.
This time, Lee Yeon is set to embark on an adventure in an era of chaos in 1938, thus providing a different feel from the first season.
Still, the second season incorporates the trademark plot which exquisitely weaves Korean folklore featuring indigenous deities, native ghosts and fairy tale characters.
Also returning as the creative team members are Director Kang Shin Hyo and writer Han Woo Ri.
In Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938, Lee Yeon is summoned back to the past and is caught up in an unexpected situation.

Meet The Lead Cast of Gumiho 1938
Lee Dong Wook who unleashed an iconic character oozing with charisma makes a new page for his role as Lee Yeon.

With a new setting, new characters emerge amplifying expectations for the series. Chameleon actress Kim So Yeon (Penthouse) suits up as Ryu Hong-ju, the owner of a high-end restaurant in Gyeongseong and is also a former mountain deity.
From the moment she first met Lee Yeon, who she had longed for but could not have, her boring daily life becomes more enjoyable.
“I am very grateful to join the new season and be with you. I will work hard to prepare and show that I can portray the charming character of Ryu Hong-ju well,”
Kim Bum also excites fans of the series with his return as Lee Rang. Last season, Lee Rang resolved a misunderstanding with Lee Yeon and made sacrifices, but in 1938, he meets Lee Yeon, with his old rebellious character. The bickering brothers will sure delight the audience again.
“I am very happy to be able to be with you following the first season which I personally dearly love. Please look forward to the upcoming Gumiho 1938 and also to Lee Rang.”
Lastly, Ryu Kyung-soo plays Cheon Mu-yeong, a man who saves the dead. A former northern mountain god, he was once the ‘only friend’ of Lee Yeon and Hong-ju. However, due to an incident, he harbors hostility to Lee Yeon, and he enters into an unavoidable battle with an old friend.
“I’m looking forward to being able to work together in an interesting world, We will do our best to show good results.”
Meanwhile, Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938 is scheduled to air in 2023.
