Promising to add another delightful sageuk, The Forbidden Marriage explores the marriage ban ordered by King Yi Heon when he lost the crown princess seven years ago.
Based on a novel of the same name, the series follows the story of So-rang (Park Ju Hyun), who unexpectedly enters the palace. Together with Lee Heon (Kim Young Dae) and Lee Shin-won (Kim Woo Seok), they became inseparable, heightening curiosity as to why they got intertwined.
Kim Young Dae as King Lee Heon
In The Forbidden Marriage, Kim Young Dae portrayed King Lee Heon. The actor was apparently under just the appropriate amount of pressure and enthusiasm because of his enthusiasm about the script and the character he will portray. It’s apparent that he’s intrigued by his transition into Lee Heon.
“Both the script and the relationship between So Rang, Lee Heon, and Lee Shin-won were interesting, and that aspect became attractive.”
King Lee Heon is a character who is described as “more genuine than anybody else when it comes to love”. He also emphasized displaying a hostile yet favorable attitude toward poverty.
Kim Young Dae has spoken of his eagerness to lead his first historical drama and his wish for the viewers to have high expectations and support him in this project.
“It has wonderful collaboration between outstanding actors with an amazing passion for acting, and the crew is putting up their best effort to film it.”
Park Ju Hyun as So Rang
Park Ju Hyun shares that the lovely and spirited So Rang has captured her attention. The actress talked about her thoughts on the part and how strongly she wants to bring out the character’s charm.
“She is a friend with a strong personality with interesting qualities of possessiveness, compatibility, and con artist within the historical drama genre.”
Along with this, “Love,” “wistful,” and “deceit” also fit her character’s personality. The actress also explained the meaning behind the name So Rang.
“The name So Rang itself means love, and she is an affectionate and lovely character.”
In addition, Park Ju Hyun shares her insight regarding the life of So Rang and how a life lived with no lies is like being a “dead body”.
She also described her experience while filming the show, stating that she felt free and joyful even while living in the palace.
Kim Woo Seok as Lee Shin Won
Kim Woo Seok, who plays the role of Lee Shin Won, is also one of the show’s lead stars. Regarding this, Kim Woo Seok expressed a strong desire to try a historical drama, particularly The Forbidden Marriage. He said he was more drawn to the idea that each character has a range of fascinating qualities.
Since it was his first time acting in a historical drama, he expressed he tried to set the tone and act so that viewers would understand and sympathize with his role. He talked about his love for his role and why he wanted to be a part of The Forbidden Marriage.
“Lee Shin-won is an attractive character who quietly guards his loved one.”
Lastly, Kim Woo-suk elaborated on his similarities to Lee Shin-won’s character and how he relates with him.
“I believe that the character is similar to me since I am a good listener.”
The premiere of MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama The Forbidden Marriage will air on December 9 at 9:50 p.m.
