It’s a double treat from Viu to K-Drama fans next week!
Viu is excited to present two highly anticipated original series, The Matchmakers and Moon in the Day at the end of the month. With captivating narratives and talented casts, these shows promise to deliver two amazing historical dramas, further enriching Viu’s diverse catalog of premium content.
First to be released on October 30 is The Matchmakers, which follows Jeong Woo (played by Rowoon), whose political dreams are halted when he becomes the princess’ consort and Jung Soon Deok (played by Cho Yi Hyun), a dual life-leading widow. Pressured by the royal family, they collaborate to marry off four old maids, navigating through differing views on marriage.
Both playing the titular matchmakers, Rowoon and Cho Yi Hyun will be portraying the historical and cultural nuances of being a widower and a widow in the Joseon era. Viewers can also look forward to their comedic “enemies to lovers” arc during the course of the show.
In contrast, Moon in the Day, set to premiere on November 1, is a gripping saga of a romance spanning 1,500 years – the past and the present. It revolves around a forbidden love between a restless spirit and the woman he is tasked to kill, entwined with the mission of a bodyguard protecting her artist from a would-be assassin.
In this drama, leads Kim Young Dae and Pyo Ye Jin will be playing both their past and present counterparts.
The Penthouse star Kim Young Dae will play Hwarang warrior Do Ha who will later be reincarnated into top Korean celebrity Han Joon Oh. On the other hand, Pyo Ye Jin, known for her lead role in Taxi Driver, will play Han Ri Ta – a Gaya woman caught in a political crossfire and Kang Young Hwa – the bodyguard of the Korean celebrity.
Stay tuned for the premiere of The Matchmakers on October 30 and Moon in the Day on November 1, exclusively on Viu.
