“The Potato Lab” Brings a Fresh Twist to Comic Romance with Kang Tae Oh and Lee Sun Bin

tvN’s upcoming weekend drama The Potato Lab promises a vibrant blend of humor and romance, set against the quirky backdrop of a potato research lab.

Premiering on Saturday, March 1st at 9:20 PM, The Potato Lab stars Lee Sun Bin as Kim Mi-kyung, a lovable potato enthusiast, and Kang Tae Oh as So Baek-ho, a rule-abiding, no-nonsense innovator.

The drama follows the life of Kim Mi-kyung, who has dedicated herself wholeheartedly to studying potatoes, only to have her carefully structured world upended by the unexpected arrival of So Baek-ho. This “principled perfectionist” brings both tension and excitement to Mi-kyung’s life, sparking a whirlwind of comical and heartwarming moments.

Newly released posters and a teaser video offer a glimpse into the delightful chaos of their story. One poster shows So Baek-ho, looking out of place in a lab filled with potatoes, holding a tuber with an air of puzzlement. Meanwhile, Mi-kyung’s curious expression hints at her growing intrigue. Another poster showcases the pair sitting back-to-back, subtly aware of each other, hinting at the budding chemistry that will unfold as they bond over boiling, frying, and baking potatoes in their scenic valley lab.

The teaser further sets the stage for their quirky romance. Mi-kyung, engrossed in her research, hears a commotion and opens the door to find So Baek-ho—and her beloved potatoes—rolling into her life. His awkward charm, contrasted with her flushed cheeks, is paired with the tagline, “A comic romance fresher than new potatoes,” building anticipation for the series.

Lee Sun-bin’s Kim Mi-kyung exudes warmth and determination, her life thrown into delightful disarray by Kang Tae-oh’s So Baek-ho, a seemingly composed but emotionally detached professional. Their clashing personalities—Mi-kyung’s bulldozer-like enthusiasm and Baek-ho’s unyielding principles—set the stage for a dynamic relationship that promises laughter, growth, and unexpected love.

Directed by Kang Il-soo and written by Kim Ho-soo, known for works like Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung and Solomon’s Perjury, The Potato Lab is shaping up to be a heartwarming tale of transformation, love, and, of course, potatoes.
