“The Witch” Drops Teasers of Park Jinyoung

Park Jinyoung is back on the small screen after his military service in Channel A’s upcoming weekend drama, The Witch.

This mystery romance is set to captivate audiences with its intriguing storyline about Dong-jin, a man determined to break the curse surrounding a woman labeled a witch, and Mi-jeong, a woman shunned by the world due to the tragic fate that follows her. The two embark on a journey of mutual salvation, defying the odds as they attempt to uncover the truth.

Based on the popular webtoon by Kang Full, the writer behind hits like Moving, The Light Shop Keeper, and Fool, The Witch promises a compelling mix of suspense and romance. Director Kim Tae-gyun, known for his masterful direction in Dark Figure of Crime, brings his signature style to the series, blending the haunting world of Kang Full with his own delicate and sophisticated interpretation. With this collaboration, expectations are high for a visually stunning and emotionally charged drama.

Park Jinyoung stars as Dong-jin, a data miner at the top of his field. His profession revolves around analyzing data, transforming it to uncover the truth—a truth he is determined to apply to the woman he loves, Mi-jeong (played by Roh Jeong Ui). Mi-jeong, burdened with misfortune and branded as a “witch,” has isolated herself from society. Dong-jin, a statistics expert, believes Mi-jeong is not what the world thinks she is. He embarks on a relentless quest to prove her innocence, determined to uncover the facts behind the so-called “curse” that haunts her.

In the newly released stills from the drama, Park Jinyoung’s portrayal of Dong-jin showcases his seamless transformation into a rational, science-driven character. At the time of his casting, the actor garnered attention for his striking resemblance to the original webtoon character, and his performance promises to bring the character to life with precision and emotional depth.

Dong-jin is the epitome of rationality, focused solely on facts and data, yet he carries a deeply emotional side. His love for Mi-jeong drives him to embark on a perilous journey, digging into the statistics that could potentially explain the tragic pattern surrounding her, while also declaring, “You are not a witch.” Park Jin-young’s performance captures this complexity—his eyes brimming with intellectual intensity and subtle emotion, perfectly embodying Dong-jin’s journey from cold logic to passionate love.

Director Kim Tae-gyun praised Park Jin-young’s portrayal, noting that the actor’s stable tone and penetrating gaze mirror the essence of Dong-jin’s character. “His innocence and sincerity shine through, reflecting the essence of the role,” Kim remarked, expressing satisfaction with the actor’s high level of character synchronization.

The production team further emphasized Park Jin-young’s remarkable acting skills, highlighting his ability to smoothly transition between Dong-jin’s rational, data-driven persona and the intense, emotional love that propels him to risk everything for Mi-jeong. They promised that viewers can expect a powerful portrayal of Dong-jin’s determination to save Mi-jeong from the stigma of being a “witch,” while also navigating the chilling mystery that defines the world of The Witch.

Set to air on February 15th, at 9:10 PM, The Witch will follow in the footsteps of the hit series Check In Hanyang and is set to be broadcast globally, offering viewers worldwide the opportunity to experience this thrilling new drama.
