JTBC’s new drama is a romance filled with twists and turns and excitement between a man who has come to terms with his dark past, and a woman who is fond of children.
In My Sweet Mobster, Uhm Tae Goo takes on the role of Seo Ji-hwan, who has put an end to his past as a gangster boss and returned as the CEO of the social enterprise. Ji-hwan is a character who travels all over Korea, disbanding organizations and recruiting members who have been released from prison, leading them to new lives.
Han Sun Hwa plays the role of Go Eun-ha, a kids’ video content creator also known as ‘Minnie Unni.’ She is a person who wants to spread her love and happiness to children, which springs from her memories of a neighborhood oppa, who was the only one who played with her when she was young.
Eun-ha, whose priority is children goes out even for outdoor activities for her content. The number of subscribers is not that big, so the production company is unhappy, but she keeps her lively personality and unwavering tenacity.
Lastly, Kwon Yul plays the role of Jang Hyun-woo, a prosecutor at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office and an avid subscriber to Minnie Unni. Jang Hyun-woo is infinitely kind to the children who visit the prosecutor’s office, but has a stubborn belief that ‘people do not change’ when it comes to criminals.
He especially persistently suspects Seo Ji-hwan, who is legally taking in ex-convicts. Accordingly, expectations are high for Kwon Yul’s performance in which he will express his cool-headed side that blooms amidst his gentleness.
The production team said, “We want to give viewers the fun and heart-pounding excitement of finding a twist through the process of characters who at first glance seem to live in a different world erasing prejudice and discovering the value of others.”
My Sweet Mobster is set to premiere this year.
