JTBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama seeks to explore romance from varying perspectives of its lead characters.
Billed as a melodrama, Understanding Love navigates stories of people who meet and discover the true meaning of love. It follows realistic romantic narratives among men and women with varying beliefs on how love is felt and nurtured.
Moreover, the four people meet at a fictional bank called KCU.
Revealing quick sketches of the characters, the production team hints at an endearing romance story for viewers.
Yoo Yeon Seok plays Ha Sang-soo, a person who wants a normal life that maintains a certain value in any situation. He believes that an unshakable routine life is a happiness.
However, a new variable appears and he confronts a wave in his quiet daily life. That variable called love that will affect Sang-soo’s daily life surely piques interest as to what the story will unfold.
Unlike Ha Sang-soo, who pursues stable love, Moon Ga Young plays Ahn Soo-young, who sees love as something that can be destroyed in an instant.
She has been living in her busy reality to protect her own in her unfavorable environment. But one day, she feels a strange excitement because of a man who suddenly approached her.
What kind of change will this cause Soo-young who thinks love is but building sandcastles?
Next, Geum Sae Rok takes on the role of Park Mi-kyung. Born in a rich household, she loves leisure and sophistication.
She is assertive, straightforward, and generous. However, she is not in a happy relationship. Will she be able to find a love that her heart beats for?
Lastly, Jung Ga Ram suits up as Jung Jong-hyun, a police officer who is focused on his dream to become successful.
He always tries his best and lives without losing hope that he will become a person suitable for the person he likes. But what kind of choice will he make when reality hits him to a point of no return?
