A dangerous partnership is about to unfold in KBS 2TV’s new weekend drama Walking on a Thin Ice, premiering September 20.
Walking on a Thin Ice follows Kang Eun-soo (Lee Young Ae), a devoted mother willing to risk everything to protect her family, and Lee Kyung (Kim Young Kwang), her daughter’s mild-mannered after-school art teacher who secretly leads a double life as “James,” a drug dealer at a local club. Their fates collide when they stumble upon a mysterious bag of drugs — a discovery that pulls them into a web of desperation, deceit, and mutual dependence.
Eun-soo, once an ordinary housewife enjoying a peaceful life, finds her world tilting after learning Lee Kyung’s secret. What begins as a tense parent–teacher relationship quickly morphs into a volatile alliance, with Eun-soo proposing a “business” arrangement to shield her family. But fear shadows every decision, as she struggles to gauge whether she’s sealing her family’s safety — or its downfall.
Newly released stills from the drama paint a vivid picture of this shifting dynamic. In one scene, warm sunlight spills into an art room as Eun-soo sits rigidly across from Lee Kyung, her face tightening at unsettling news about her daughter, Park Soo-ah (Kim Si A). The moment brims with subtle tension, the kind that lingers in polite conversations where something unspoken hangs heavy.
In stark contrast, the next set of images plunges them into a grittier reality. Lee Kyung appears in a leather jacket and horn-rimmed glasses, exuding an icy edge, while Eun-soo, her face drawn and anxious, meets his gaze in an unfamiliar, foreboding space. Here, the polite façades are gone, replaced by the raw unease of two people bound by dangerous secrets.
The drama promises to explore not just crime and suspense, but also the strange intimacy that forms when two vastly different lives intertwine under pressure. “Lee Young-ae and Kim Young-kwang start out as characters from completely different worlds,” the production team shared. “But as the story unfolds, they gradually seep into each other’s lives, colliding, clashing, and perhaps even healing through the conflicts and dilemmas they face together.”
Featuring blend of psychological tension, moral gray zones, and the powerhouse pairing of Lee Young-ae and Kim Young-kwang, Good Day for Eun-soo looks set to deliver a gripping ride where every choice could be the one that tips the balance between survival and ruin.
