Kim Min-ha’s Transformation: A Tale of Two Eras
The newly released stills showcase Kim Min-ha’s flawless portrayal of Hee-wan, bringing the character to life in both her past and present.
In the past, Hee-wan is seen in her school uniform, filling the classroom with her radiant smile. One image captures her writing a heartfelt letter late at night, suggesting a creative and expressive nature.
In the present, a stark contrast emerges—her face is shadowed, her once-bright eyes now empty, hinting at a painful transformation. The shift in her demeanor raises intrigue about the events that changed her so drastically.
Kim Min-ha, who gained international recognition through Pachinko and Light Shop Keeper, takes on the role of Hee-wan, a free-spirited student who is nothing like the well-behaved Ram-woo. She is mischievous, constantly stirring up creative trouble, and ends up befriending Ram-woo through a prank on April Fool’s Day. However, after Ram-woo’s sudden departure, Hee-wan’s vibrant personality fades, leaving behind a completely different person. The drastic change in her character adds to the anticipation of Kim Min-ha’s nuanced performance.
Reflecting on the drama, Kim Min-ha shared, “When I first read the script, I cried and laughed a lot. The story is dreamy, beautiful, and filled with the warmth of youth. I hope viewers will find their own sense of spring and nostalgia through it.”
Gong Myung’s Dual Charm: First Love Turned Grim Reaper
Alongside Kim Min-ha, Gong Myung is set to steal hearts as Ram-woo, Hee-wan’s reserved first love who unexpectedly returns as a grim reaper.
In the past, Ram-woo was a quiet and introverted model student, whose biggest thrill in life is playing board games with his friend Hong Seok (played by Jung Gun-joo). However, his mundane world turns upside down when he gets entangled with the lively and unpredictable Hee-wan, leading to an unexpectedly loud and eventful high school life.
In the present, Ram-woo reappears as a grim reaper, donning a mysterious yet radiant smile. One intriguing image shows him wearing Hee-wan’s name tag on his chest, hinting at a deeper connection between their past and present selves.
Gong Myung, making his drama comeback after military service, expressed his excitement for the project:
“As soon as I read the script, my heart fluttered. Ram-woo and Hee-wan’s story is cute, lovable, and deeply emotional.”Speaking about his co-star Kim Min-ha, he added,
“She’s an incredibly dynamic actress. She can shift effortlessly from being bright and lovable to deeply intense. Every time I looked into her eyes while filming, I felt completely immersed in the scene.”
Episodes 1 and 2 of Way Back Love will be available exclusively on TVING starting Thursday, April 3rd.
