Subsequently, the production team of the series acquaints viewers with Jo Yong-pil, a forecaster at the Jeju Island Meteorological Administration. According to the production team, no one knows the weather better than Yongpil. This is because, as a native of Samdalri, he has experience gained from traveling around the region.
In the released still cuts, Yong-pil, who is concentrating intently on the monitor, shows his persistent obsession for an accurate forecast. Yongpil is a stubborn forecaster who cannot be controlled even by the headquarters.
At every weather meeting held via video call every day, he holds onto the microphone, presents counterarguments to the weather forecast issued by the headquarters, and even engages in a bloody war of words with the commissioner to get what he wants.
In order to prevent this enormous mess, the main office frequently disconnects video calls. There are many cases where people are barred from entering the forecast department during important meetings.
The reason why Yong-pil strives to make weather forecasts more accurate is because of Samdalri. He is a native of Gaecheon with whom he has people who are like family and make a living through boat work and diving.
Yong-pil, who has deep feelings and a warm heart, has another person whom he wants to protect dearly. Her name is Sam-dal. As if by fate, they were born in the same village, on the same day, 5 minutes apart, and have been together for over 30 years. There is currently no contact about what happened between them, but their history is expected to be restarted as Sam-dal returns to Samdalri.
Ji Chang Wook hopes the viewers will receive a warm message in his new work.
“I get to greet the end of the year with ‘Welcome to Samdalri. This coming December, I hope you can feel a little bit of warmth through Yong-pil. I hope I too will receive a warm ‘welcome’ when I visit the small screen soon.”
