Buried Hearts

Buried Hearts Episodes 11 and 12 Highlights

Previously, Eun-nam came across Dong-ju’s childhood photo, hinting they might share the same father. However, Dong-ju concealed this and confided in Secretary Gong, who seemed to have prior knowledge. After confirming his identity, Dong-ju implores Secretary Gong to keep his true parentage a secret.

Secretary Gong then presents Dong-ju with a gift entrusted to her by his late father just before his passing. She urges him to relinquish his pursuit of Eun-nam.

Dong-ju fumes and mentions how he conspired with Cha Deokhui to kill him and his family. He says he is holding back on the rage he has for the elders of the Cha family because of Eun-nam.

“That kid, that kid’s mother and my dad were all killed by Huh Il Do.”

Eun-nam meets her family and pushes through the divorce, even relinquishing the Daesan shares she got from Chairman Cha. Later, she joins Dong-ju in his car who was just looking at his father’s last gift.

She then reveals that she recognized the young boy in the photo, carried by her father, and knows he has passed away. She also shares her suspicion that President Huh was responsible for the deaths of her father, Seong-hyun, and his mother. Just then, Dong-ju receives a message summoning him to meet Chairman Cha. Struggling to contain his anger, he prepares to face President Huh—the man who likely took his parents’ lives.

However, he wasn’t able to hold on long and decided to leave to see Madam Pi so they could go to the old neighborhood where he grew up. He further learns that when he found his sister, he also gave another hope for his adopted mom to live.

Dong-ju has been orchestrating a plan to bring Seon-wu and his mother into Chairman Cha’s family. He persuades Cha Guk-hee by leveraging his knowledge of her secret—the money she stole from her father’s vault. Additionally, he pressures President Huh into aligning with Chairman Cha’s wish to marry Seon-wu’s mother, Ji Yeong-su.

When Chairman Cha calls a family meeting, Deok-hee adamantly opposes his plan. However, the other family members—previously swayed by Dong-ju—express their support.

Meanwhile, Ji Yeong-su has an unexpected encounter with Jang-seon and President Huh. Another intriguing meeting takes place between Dong-ju and Jang-seon’s wife, who seems to share a connection with Dong-ju’s mother. Suspiciously, it appears that Jang-seon himself may have played a role in Dong-ju’s father’s death.

Handing out the agreement connected to Eun-nam and Hui-cheol’s divorce, Chairman Cha proposes that Dong-ju marry Eun-nam so he can protect Cha Seon-wu and his mom. The chairman wants his son to take over his business in the future.

“I’ve seen him before, my mom’s friend. Huh Il Do – the one who killed my parents.”

With the help of therapy and his eidetic memory, Dong-ju begins piecing together the trauma of his past, recalling the harrowing moment when Director Huh deliberately pushed the car carrying him and his parents after a truck collision.

Determined to unlock the truth about his childhood, Dong-ju retrieves fragments of memory from the day he lost his family. A rare local news article claiming he was the sole survivor prompts him to confront Director Huh. But Dong-ju’s restored memory tells a different story—he survived the accident that Director Huh himself caused.

It was revealed that President Huh receives a paper showing that Seung-hyun is biologically related to Yeo Sun-ho aka Eun-nam’s father. He made up his mind to kill his friends with Jang-seon backing him up.

“I’m still alive. Keep shooting.”

With the support of his allies, Dong-ju successfully secures the Dandelion Files. Pushed to the edge by Dong-ju’s relentless taunts, Director Huh makes the chilling decision to eliminate him once and for all.

When Dong-ju receives a DNA report revealing that Director Huh is his biological father, he’s stunned by the truth. The two had arranged a secret meeting, but the moment they came face-to-face, Director Huh opened fire without hesitation. As he reloads, Dong-ju provokes him further—daring him to shoot again while mockingly addressing him as “father.”

Buried Hearts Episodes 11 and 12 Musings

The intense confrontations between the hero and villains, both in words and actions, drive the excitement in Buried Hearts. Each week, the plot thickens with unexpected twists.

Now that Dong-ju and Eun-nam can consider love without the barrier of being blood-related, new challenges arise, especially with Dong-ju’s connection to the man who killed her father potentially complicating their relationship.

The plot development we want to see is Director Huh turning his back against Jang-seon, which is likely to happen now that he has learned about Dong-ju’s identity. We also want a clearer understanding of how messy the friendship circle of Dong-ju and Eun-nam’s parents is.

Dong-ju’s retrieval of Dandelion Files at least leaves him something to leverage against his fight with Jang-seon. The latter is surely wreaking havoc with his manipulative and merciless ways. It’s hard not to love hating him in this drama, to be honest.

Knowing President Huh has a habit of shooting him, we can assume Dong-ju came prepared to meet him. But now the secret is out, what will become of them?

Buried Hearts streams on Disney Plus on Saturdays and Sundays.
